Hello Future Tapp MS Families,
In this newsletter, you will be introduced to our parent facilitator, Mrs. Laura Shyman. As the parent facilitator she serves as the liaison between parents and school personnel. Throughout the school year, you will also receive parent resource newsletters via The Shyman Share. You can view her newsletters here, or send her an e-mail at to be added to her list if you have not yet started receiving them at laura.shyman@cobb12k.org.
Our rising 6th grade families were sent an e-mail from our principal, Dr. Thomas, about Cobb's Fall Option plan. if you would like to view this message again, please read Dr. Thomas' message here.
At this time, we do not have additional information about this option and about next year. At this time, school is slated to resume on August 3rd. Once we receive more information, we will share it with families and answer potential questions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have information about Cobb's 2020-2021 Fall Options? Who can advise me on the fall option process?
At this time, we are still waiting on more guidance from the district. Once we receive additional information, we will reach out to our families. As the district has communicated, you will be able to submit your choice beginning on July 2nd but no later than July 10 through ParentVue. Please also check the district website to stay up-to-date on new information: http://www.cobbk12.org.
How can I access ParentVue if I am unable to log in?
You can reach Mrs. Joacey Bautista-Fraser, our school secretary, via e-mail to request assistance.
How can I prepare my student for next year?
Please ensure that your student is keeping up with their summer reading! This newsletter, as well as the newsletters sent out in previous weeks, includes resources and reminders for how students can participate in the 2020 Summer Reading Adventure. Students also have access to other Cobb learning resources provided below in this newsletter.
Can my student request a specific teacher? When will scheduling take place?
Students are randomly placed in classes unless they are in AC (Advanced Content) or special education. We do not take request for specific teachers. Also, student schedules will not be available until late July. Students will also have the option of taking a Fine Arts class (Band, Orchestra and Chorus). Reminders
2020 Summer Reading Adventure
Your 6th grade teachers and our Media Specialist, Mrs. Kristy Ward want to remind you about summer reading.
The 2020 Summer Reading Adventure began on June 1st. We will use a new platform called Beanstalk! We encourage all students and families to read 20 minutes each day for a total of 20 hours this summer. This year students and families will sign up for the Summer Reading Adventure through the Cobb County Public Library.
You also may log minutes and complete activities on the Summer Reading Adventure form.
