All School Letter
March 25, 2022
Hi Chinook families,
The next 8 weeks are going to fly by! Please review the important dates below and make note of them. If your child will be gone during any of the testing days, please let us know in advance to help schedule make-up times.
Once the snow has melted, we can begin building the greenhouse. Be on the lookout for more details in May.
In April Chinook will present our annual report to the Fairbanks School Board, we update them on our year and our program goals. One of our program goals is to have 90% of our families volunteer an average of 15 hours a trimester. We are not currently at that goal, so please update your hours. A copy of your hours will be sent soon.
Another program goal is to have 90% of parents surveyed satisfied with Chinook. So, we created a survey to get some feedback. Prior to COVID, this survey(or similiar) was sent out every other year. Please take some time to complete this anonymous feedback form. The Chinook Board and faculty will review the responses and use the feedback to inform future decision-making. The survey will be open for about 2 weeks, closing on Sunday, April 10th. Time spent on the survey can be logged as volunteer hours and there are paper copies available in the office if you'd prefer that.
Lastly, our 2022-2023 school year calendar is attached at the bottom of this letter. Paper copies are available at the front of the school.
Love,
Chinook Teachers

Graduation
Eighth-grade graduation is a whole school celebration. Everyone comes – not just the families of the graduates. Each family group has a part in the ceremony. The teachers lead the ceremony. Each graduate receives a ring engraved with the name of the school and the graduation year. Also, the graduates display their passage projects for the Chinook community to see
This year's graduation will be at the Pioneer Park (or Alaskaland for you longtime Fairbanksans) Civic Center, starting at 5:30pm (arrive at 5:15pm). All students except the graduates will be dropped off (by 8:15am) and picked up (by 12:45pm) at Pioneer Park on May 17th to practice the ceremony. Graduates will be dropped off at school that morning and transported to Pioneer Park for a run-through. We are very excited to be holding our traditional graduation ceremony this year. Please log hours already logged in the signup. Thank you!
