Wright-ings E-Notice

Daniel Wright Junior High School E-Notice - March 14, 2021

Class T-Shirts Available

The deadline is approaching to order a class T-shirt for graduating eighth-graders.

It has been a longstanding tradition to own a "Class T-shirt" for the graduating eighth-graders. This t-shirt features the names of all the graduates on the back! Recently, eighth-graders voted on their favorite design for the front of the t-shirt. The voting for two designs was so close that we're offering both designs!

Check out the T-shirt designs and place your order today. The shirts are $20. Adult, Youth and Ladies Cuts are available.

Orders are due by Sunday, March 21. The shirts will likely be available the week of April 4. The PTO will arrange for in-person learners to receive their shirts during Advisory. The PTO will organize a day/time for remote learners to pick up their shirts.

Watch for information on an eighth-grade spirit day when the students will be encouraged to wear their t-shirts and send in a picture to share!

Please contact Kathy Reibel with any questions.

Pictures Sought

The PTO needs your help in gathering some pictures of your eighth-grader.

What We Need

  1. Baby Picture (age 0-1). One picture, one face is all we need.
  2. Kindergarten School Picture. We will be showing each student's Kindergarten and 8th grade pictures at the graduation ceremony.
  3. Any Group Pictures you have of the students through the years. From the first days of Kindergarten through the last days of DW... any group pictures! Think class Halloween pictures, band concerts, sports pictures, etc.
  4. If Your Student Did Not Take An Eighth-Grade School Pickture we will need a current picture of your student in a pose resembling a typical school picture on a plain background. If your student took an eighth-grade school picture, no action is necessary as we will obtain it from the school.

How To Submit Photos

To help us stay organized, please name your pictures with your child's first and last names. And then please submit your pictures using the following links:

**IMPORTANT: Please save your photos with the name of your child. If will help us stay organized!

Please submit these pictures by April 2. The earlier the better!

Eighth-Grade Website

Please visit follow the Daniel Wright Class of 2021 website for information on the many eighth-grade celebrations. We will add information to the website as the end of the year draws closer. We plan to celebrate our eighth-graders during the week of May 24 with a theme/activity each day.

The D103 Learning Fund Foundation provides a scholarship opportunity for Daniel Wright eighth-graders. A $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying eighth–grader in memory of former parent Dawn Anderson.

The Dawn Anderson Scholarship was established in honor of Dawn Anderson who passed away in 2017. While her children progressed through the District 103 school system, Dawn followed them, volunteering for any and every school or teacher-based project available. Motivated by her love of children, Dawn continued volunteering after her children moved on in their education. To honor her legacy, the Learning Fund Foundation established the scholarship to recognize a D103 graduating eighth–grade student who displays a passion for volunteering and serving others. This $2,500 award must be used for education at a post–secondary school. For more information, please visit the Learning Fund Foundation's scholarship website page. The deadline to apply is Saturday, April 10, 2021. Please contact the foundation at lff+anderson21@d103.org with questions.

Leave Your Legacy in D103

The D103 Learning Fund Foundation invites your family to leave a legacy at D103 with the launch of the Legacy Brick Fundraiser. With the completion of the Daniel Wright construction project, the Foundation invites families to donate $100 to inscript their name on a brick pathway outside the remodeled school.

This LFF Legacy Brick Fundraiser video, narrated by Daniel Wright Principal Michelle Blackley and featuring the new school mascot, outlines the project. This is a great opportunity to bring our community together, so please consider a donation. The Learning Fund and all of our schools appreciate your generous support.
