DATA REPORTS

BUDGET-WHERE DO WE STAND?

as of November 2015

Baseline Data

Big image

Both LaVega High School and University High School show raw graduation rates in the 80-90% range. These rates exclude those who continued to a 5th year and those who dropped out of school and earned a GED instead of a diploma.

Rates from http://tea.texas.gov/acctres/dropcomp/years.html#comp

Big image

The population of high school students (ages 15-19) is expected to remain flat or decrease slightly through 2030.

Enrollments provided by LVISD/WISD or from the school website (http://unihigh.wacoisd.org/cms/One.aspx).

Big image

Total PL Cohort size:

-250 at LVHS (middle 30% of population from 35th percentile to the 65th percentile)

-500 at UHS (30% of population from the 62nd percentile to the 89th percentile)

While the goal of Project Link was to include the “middle 50%”, the size of the high schools made that impractical. The cohorts were limited to 250 per PL Advisor, the largest number of students the Advisors were able to handle.

- 500 at UHS (30% of population from the 62nd percentile to the 89th percentile)

The cohorts at the two high schools are aimed at different groups that do not overlap. The University High group is a much higher-achieving group than the LaVega group. One avenue of research this opens up is to determine the size of the effect on different academic levels of students – are those in the middle more or less affected than those towards the upper end?
