Charles Hay World School IB
Parents’ Place for Palermo’s Updates
Hey Hay Families,
This week we started our onsite Covid testing. We currently have 70 students signed up for testing. There were longer waits for testing than anticipated this week. We have made a couple changes for next week to speed up the process for students. Students' test result will be emailed to parents/guardians. There has been a couple questions about exposures. In the event that your child is exposed to a positive case you would be informed.
During drop off and pick up we are looking to tighten up some practices to improve safety. For students and adults we ask that you use the closest crosswalk when crossing the street. Staff will be directing children and adults alike to utilize the crosswalks. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
As a reminder... Clubs are going to get started soon. Any club in which will increase respiratory rates (TOS Boxing & Run Club) will operate without masks. Students will be required to enroll in weekly serial testing in order to participate in these clubs. There is more information below on how to enroll in the serial testing.
On the horizon are a couple more community events. On Oct. 29th, we will have our first in-person Cougar Roar Assembly since pre-Covid times. We will also have both Halloween Read Aloud Day, Pajama Day, & Trick-or-Treat Street that evening. The Trick-or-Treat Street and Cougar Roar Assembly will be outdoor events. The Read Aloud Day will be a zoom event. Volunteers will have an opportunity to sign up for a times slot in a class room and read to a class via zoom.
Our Covid testing program has begun. If you are interested in signing up it is not too late. Students that have enrolled in this program will be tested weekly on Thursday mornings.
To enroll your child, please click here to fill out and sign a consent form. Printed enrollment forms will also be available to you in our main office.
The COVID-19 testing program is available to all students and staff, regardless of vaccination status or presence of symptoms. School testing will be implemented with the help of a state contractor.
I’ve linked additional materials for your consideration, including:
- Facts on the program with additional information.
- FAQ to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
For additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at matthew_palermo@engschools.net.
