Hooker Oak Staff Spotlight

Dustin Holley, SDC

Hi,

My name is Dustin Holley. I'm a new education specialist here at Hooker Oak. I'm really happy to be working at my son's school and I can't wait to work with your students! I've been teaching in special education for six years and really enjoy my work. It's really important to me that all our students have the same opportunities to learn and be successful. I'm also a big believer in social-emotional learning in the classroom. A calm mind is ready to learn! I'll see you soon!

Live Well,

Dustin

Parent Resources from Mary Gocke, Hooker Oak Counselor

Mary Gocke, our amazing new counselor, will be sharing resources for parents twice a month. Here is the first video and resource for the month of September. It is something we can all use-Tips to Keep Students Motivated in Online Learning.

Hooker Oak Library Book Check-out

Hooker Oak students will now be able to check out books from our school library! Our first library book distribution will be on Thursday, September 10th from 12:30-1:30. This will be done as a "drive-thru/no contact" process only. We are committed to making this a safe process for all. Mr. Ryan, our Libary Media Assistant, will wear the appropriate PPE, and all reading materials will be quarantined for a mandatory 72 hours. Students must reserve their book(s) by Tuesday evening in order for it to be available on Thursday.

Click here to watch a video tutorial by our Elementary Librarian, Monica Brown about how to put books on hold. The video will cover the following:

-How do I check out a book online?
-How do I log into Destiny Discover?
-Where do I find Destiny Discover?
-How do I place a book on hold?
-How can I find my current check-outs?
..........and much more!
