Lincoln, Logan, & McPherson 4-H
November #2 2022
A Note from Miss Caitlyn
Dear Lincoln, Logan & McPherson County 4-H Families,
It's the month of Thanksgiving, and there is so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for all the 4-Her's and volunteers that I get to work with on a regular basis. The youth and adults that are a part of our program embody the 4-H mission to: empower youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults.
I am thankful of all ways our program gives opportunities for youth to participate
- Organized 4-H Club
- School Enrichment
- Afterschool Program
- Day Camp
- Residential Camp
- Special Interest Groups
- On-line Technology
I encourage each of you as you enroll or re-enroll in 4-H to set goals for what you want to accomplish this next year. Take advantage of all 4-H has to offer. Dive into a new method of participation. Invite a friend to a 4-H event/program.
I look forward to watching our youth grow another year to keep "Making the Best Better". Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns,
Miss Caitlyn

Food Safety
Ham. It can be fresh, cook-before-eating, cooked, picnic, and country types. There are so many varieties, and their storage times and cooking times can be quite confusing. This background information serves to carve up the facts and make them easier to understand. https://go.unl.edu/cooking-ham #UNLFoodSafety
Many consumers think that washing their turkey will remove bacteria and make it safer. However, it's virtually impossible to wash bacteria off the bird. Instead, juices that splash during washing can transfer bacteria onto the surfaces of your kitchen, other foods and utensils. For more food safety turkey tips: https://go.unl.edu/turkey-time #UNLFoodSafety
There are a variety of ways to cook a turkey, but the most common is roasting. Follow the roasting instructions at our site or try an alternate way to cook a turkey. Did you know that you can cook a turkey the day before serving it? For more turkey cooking tips: https://go.unl.edu/turkey-time #UNLFoodSafety
