Organizational Skills Club
To facilitate student organization and promote student ability to sort and store paperwork, identify homework, and locate completed assignments when they are due.
Goal
The goal of this intervention is that the student will be able to maintain organization of his/her binder, book bag, and locker without propting and/or behavioral contingencies in place.
Who benefits?
Students who turn in homework & projects less than 90% of the time across classes.
Students who demonstrate difficulty being organized: binders, folders, locker not organized.
Procedure
- Use checklist - see PBIS booklet
- Directly teach organizational skills using folders, binder, locker organization procedures.
- Directly teach students how to organize folders and materials
- Use planner to keep record of assignments and projects
- Build organization time into end of class
- Regular locker clean out time
- Utilize peer tutoring and checking
Monitoring Progress
Teacher monitors progress through assignment completion and organized materials/locker, etc.
Use model peer to help organize and check for organization.
Use modified checklist - with adult, peer, self
Phasing Out
Students would be phased out when data shows they are completing and turning in 90% of assignments across all curriculum and demonstrates proficiency in maintaining organization in materials, folders, assignments, lockers, etc.
