A Message from the Principal
Dear Wildcat Families,
Thank you for your understanding and for being flexible under, yet again, new and challenging circumstances of the changing wildfire conditions and hazardous air quality. September 11th is a date that always humbles me as we remember those who were lost too soon. I hope you are all safe and that your loved ones are safe as well.
As per Dr. de la Cruz's message today, 9/11/2020, due to wildfire and hazardous air quality conditions, a growing number of our families and staff members are needing to evacuate themselves and/or loved ones, or are preparing for evacuation. For these reasons, LOSD schools will be closed on Monday, Sept. 14. This means that no lessons will be posted and students will not be expected to attend class.
The district will be unable to provide child care or meal service Monday; based on the current forecast, we anticipate school resuming on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and the LOSD Grab and Go meal pickups happening on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
Please continue to stay connected for reliable updates. Clackamas County Wildfire Evacuation Zones website posts updates regularly.
We encourage all students, families, & staff to stay informed and safe!

Tech Information Sessions
LOSD hosted two Tech Information Sessions covering the “how tos'' for getting started with distance learning. The session recordings and presentations are posted on the district site under Resources/Tech Support for Families.
Tech Support Ticket
A majority of tech concerns can be resolved by submitting a Tech Support ticket -- the link is on all school and district homepages for easy access to help with passwords, log-ins, hardware fixes, etc.
Google Classroom Guardianship
By now all parents and guardians should have received an email requesting you to accept guardianship of your student's Google Classroom. If you need assistance with this request, please submit a request through the Tech Support button. Note: accepting guardianship simply gives you the option of selecting how often you would like to receive summaries (weekly, daily, or no summary) of your student's Google Classroom activity. Only student accounts have access to Google Classroom.
A Message From Our School Counselor
Dear Westridge Families and Students,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I’m so excited to be back connecting with students and families. As you all know, this will be a school year unlike any that has come before. This requires new ways of teaching and learning, and our Lake Oswego School Counseling Programs are no exception. My job as a school counselor is to support the social, emotional and academic success of all students in our school and online community. Please know that while there may be struggles ahead as we navigate this new platform for teaching and learning, we are truly in this together!
School counseling is a very relationship-driven endeavor, which can be very challenging in a distance learning and hybrid learning environment. To help facilitate connection, LOSD school counselors are making efforts to be as accessible as possible for students and parents. We have added Zoom to our technology tools for virtual meetings with both students and families. If you would like to request a meeting or phone call from me, please use this form to submit your request: Request to meet with Mr. Kieser. I can also be reached anytime via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year, I’ll continue to provide Social Emotional Learning opportunities for our Wildcats. Each month we will explore character traits together.
Look out for more information on our September trait, Courage!
My Google Classroom codes are:
Grades K-2 76wnd6p
Grades 3-5 q53zivt
Thank you for your patience and perseverance during these times. Together, we can support all students at Westridge Elementary. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need additional support.

Free Meals for All Children
LOSD is providing free packaged breakfasts and lunches for all children who wish to participate in our Grab & Go meal service. New flexibility from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) enables LOSD to provide free meals to all children ages 1 to 18, even if the children are not enrolled in LOSD, now through the end of December 2020.
Children do not need to sign up for meals. However, it would be extremely helpful for our food service team to be able to plan ahead for the number of meals to serve. If children in your care are interested in participating in the Grab and Go meal service, please click here to complete a 30 second form.
The free Grab and Go meal service begins next week. Due to Labor Day holiday, next week's meal pick up will be on Tuesday, Sept. 8. After that, starting Monday, Sept. 14, breakfast and lunch meals can be picked up on Mondays and Wednesdays at the following locations:
Lake Grove Elementary, 11 a.m. - 12 pm.
River Grove Elementary, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Lake Oswego High School, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Lakeridge High School, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Meals should be picked up at the school site located closest to you. Children may participate in one or both days of the week; they may pick up 2 days of meals on Mondays and 3 days of meals on Wednesdays. Face coverings are required at pickups.

District Information - Verify Student Info Before Returning to School
Verify Student Info Before Returning to School
LOSD thanks all the parents who have already verified their students' information for the 2020-21 school year. If you haven't done so yet, please to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Allowing parents to review the health conditions on file at your student's school.
- Enabling distribution of electronic devices covered by the district's Technology Agreement
The verification window closes September 18, 2020.
If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." If you are unsure whether you have a ParentVUE account, contact your student's school. For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website or contact your student's school. Please note that verification is not part of the ParentVUE mobile app. However, a button in the app allows you to open verification in a web browser, or you can log into ParentVUE on a computer.
