Fun Facts: High Stakes Heads or Tails!
Excited for NACA West in Portland, OR?! We are too! But did you know that Portland was almost named Boston?
Maine merchant (and Portland-born) Francis Pettygrove won a coin toss with Bostoner Asa Lovejoy and the right to name the city after Pettygrove's hometown of Portland. You can see this EPIC "Portland Penny" in the Oregon Historical Society Museum.
STAGE CREW APPS NOW OUT! Want to know what happens behind the curtains?!
Stage crew work includes loading and unloading trucks; moving, lifting, and placing equipment; assembling and setting up band equipment, sound, lights, and staging equipment; operating follow spot lights, house lights, and stage curtains; moving and placing risers, screens, and stage props, helping with the general organization of the stage and venue including some cleaning, and so much more!
Besides working with great people and learning the coolest things at the conference, NACA also provides lodging for the crew, meals per diem, and conference passes to other areas, so you are still able to enjoy the rest of the conference happenings!

Flying into Portland for NACA West 2014? Don't worry about planning transportation to and from the conference hotel/convention center. MAX WILL TAKE YOU THERE! The MAX is the Portland Light Rail system and will pick you up right at the airport, and take you to popular locations around Portland. The MAX is very cheap to use, and will be much cheaper then renting a car. Plus it's environmentally friendly! We will have more information closer to the conference date, so be sure to stay connected!
