2022-2023 School Year - Belton MS Band
Welcome!
General information that applies to all students and parents can be found towards the top of every newsletter, while information specific to your child's ensemble can be found in that particular section by scrolling down. Feel free to contact a director if you have any questions, and our contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter.
Solo Contest Recap
We had a successful Solo Contest this past Saturday with a total of 147 events evaluated by 7 judges. Overall, our students earned 100 first division superior ratings, which is 68% of the total performances! There were 36 second division excellent ratings earned, and 11 third division average ratings earned by our students.
At the End of Year Awards Ceremony, students who earned a first division rating will receive a medal, while students who earned a second division rating will receive a ribbon. All students will receive their judge comments sheet this week in class.
Additionally, 22 of our students were named Outstanding Performers for their solo! Please join me in congratulating the following beginner, intermediate, and advanced outstanding musicians:

Sign Up for Remind Texts for Beginners
If you haven't already, make sure you sign up for our Remind texts for the Beginner's Ensemble here. Students may do this as well with parent permission. This is important piece of communication to receive reminders throughout the year.
After School Sectionals
We are preparing for our UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation, which happens on Wednesday, March 8 at Lake Belton HS. This is our biggest group contest of the year. The times for all sectionals (including Percussion) will be 4:00-5:00pm, and a grade will be taken for each sectional:
- Symphonic Band Brass members (trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums, & tubas) will have their sectional every Monday.
- Symphonic Band Percussion members will have their sectional every Wednesday.
- Symphonic Band Woodwind members (flutes, oboe, bassoon, clarinets, & saxophones) will have their sectional every Thursday.
Thank you in advance for making preparations to pick up your student promptly at 5:00pm at the bus loop/staff parking lot.

Performances During School
Jazz Band will be performing for 5th graders during school this Friday, February 24 (Sparta) and next Monday, February 27 (Miller Heights & Leon Heights). Uniforms are not required for these performances and they will take place in the morning during school as part of the counselors' presentations to these incoming students for next year
