GES Mustang Bulletin
Issue 33: April 29, 2022

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Hello GES Parents,
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2 – 6) which is the time to celebrate our teachers/staff! Join us in celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week by sharing your appreciation for our dedicated, inspiring, and professional Gunnison Elementary School staff. These exceptional teachers/staff have gone above and beyond in supporting students’ academic success. During this school year, they have built meaningful relationships with students, and fostered emotional well-being during a school year full of uncertainty, challenges, and change.
Also, this past week we had a couple of exciting events. On Wednesday, April 26th, we recognized our Administrative Professionals: Hannah Hanson, Angel Hartzell, Deb Hoskins, Jill Peterson and Laura Parker. They are central to the daily function of the school and they are key to keeping it organized and efficient. We appreciate all they do!
Our first and second grade students had a wonderful time at the AgVenture Day, held by the Cattlewoman’s Association on Thursday at the Fred Field Building. It was so fun to see the small animal show. Grades 3 – 5 will attend on Monday, May 2nd and their visits will include many hands on activities.
Finally, next week GES is participating in 2022 National Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 4th. Students will be given the opportunity to ride their bikes to and from school and will be provided a safe and secure location to store their bike and helmet during the day. Guided routes are also available for students who would like to ride to school with a group. Please be on the lookout for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kind Regards,
Mr. Michael Seefried, Principal

Junior Mountaineers Summer Camp
Western Athletics is collaborating with the Rady School of CS & Engineering to provide a unique summer camp opportunity to youth ages 5-12 in the Gunnison Valley – Junior Mountaineers Summer Camp! This camp will combine athletics & physical activities with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) to create a summer full of adventures and learning. Each week of camp will have a different theme that the various STEAM activities are based around in addition to the regularly scheduled weekly activities. Camp will run from 8:30am-5:30pm on Monday-Friday with an afternoon/full day Friday option that coincides with the GWSD Summer Experience dates. You can register for 1 week of camp, multiple weeks of camp, or the entire summer.
Interested or want more info on Junior Mountaineers Summer Camp? Please use the QR code on the flyer or this link for camp descriptions, weekly themes, a sample schedule, and a registration link. If you have any questions about camp that you can’t find online, feel free to contact Bree Hare, Athletics Business Manager for Western, at bhare@western.edu or 970.943.2109
We hope that this camp not only finds success on the Western Colorado University campus, but that it also becomes an inclusive and safe place where kids can be kids, create meaningful relationships, and are inspired to be active learners!
