HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 5 - 6 March 2020
FROM GEORDIE:
Hello from Nanga bush Camp!
I am writing this from my chair in the dining area of the camp, overlooking a steep valley full of jarrah trees that leads down to the Murray River. It is a humid 30 degrees and the sounds of echoing laughter, basketballs and Mr Edwards playlist has been constant since I arrived here. I am happy to report that the Year 6 students are having an absolute blast and all are doing well.
Any homesick tears have been overcome quickly with the help of awesome friends and each activity has given the students new challenges to conquer. The food has been great, we have bats and rabbits for company at night and a couple of very friendly kangaroos have come to say hello each evening. I have no doubt there will be plenty to talk about when the kids arrive home on Friday afternoon!
I would like to congratulate one of our Year 4 students, Ari, as well as a couple of Year 6s, Bobby, Lawson and Thomas, for their state tee-ball championship win on the weekend. Obviously lots of hard work and commitment was required and this is a great way to end the season. Well done boys!
Understandably, there are a number of people in our community who are concerned about the risk that Coronavirus poses for our schools, students and parents. This is a major world event and it is important for people to talk to each other and discuss the implications. I would also like to remind everyone to be careful what is said to children and in front of students and to be kind and sympathetic to each other when having these discussions. Holy Rosary continues to work with all families in this difficult time and I want to assure people that we are keeping abreast of all the latest information from the Department of Health, the Department of Education and CEWA. A reminder that at this stage the current information suggests that the risk of transmission in WA is low. If you are looking for any more information, the latest flyer for parents can be found below:
Information for schools, students and parents -
Hard to believe that we are now half way through the term. I look forward to the P&F events on offer in the coming weeks and a reminder that Parent / Teacher Interviews will be in Week 10. More information on booking will go home closer to the date.
Have a great, safe and relaxing weekend

BENEFITS OF THE DIGITAL APP INCLUDE:
- User-friendly: Instantly search and redeem offers or check out the Near Me tab to find offers, wherever you are.
- Memberships start anytime: Flexible start date, Memberships are valid for 12 months from when you activate (15 months if you take advantage of the Early Bird offer now on in Feb/March!)..

DADS AND KIDS CAMPOUT
This Campout will be held at the school on Saturday 14th March and apart from general helpers we need around 5 dads to take on an active role in running the event, taking the lead in setting up, running games, setting up for movie, cooking breakfast and cleaning up. There's not a lot to do but many hands make light work. For the tradition to continue in the coming years, we need some dads to step up and volunteer.
Please get in touch with Nathan Byrne (nathan_byrne@hotmail.com or 0419629090).
Don't forget to get your completed forms with money into school no later than Tuesday 10th March so catering can be finalised.
Please keep supporting our school’s events and fundraisers!

HOLY ROSARY BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Science Snippets
Year 4 investigated friction and how it affects speed and distance travelled of a car. We discovered that foil and polyester had the least friction so the car travelled the furthest when placed on those materials.
Year 1 investigated how sound is made by vibrations. We felt the vibrations in our voice box. We felt vibrations on a balloon when we spoke on it. We saw the rubber band vibrating when we pulled it. Sound is a vibration.

LIBRARY NEWS
While we are awaiting the reopening of our library space, we are trialling Wheelers ePlatform until the end of March. This is an app on your child’s iPad that allows the loaning of ebooks and audiobooks. The students have been instructed on how to use this, but as always we are grateful for your supervision of all school technology in your homes. Please feel free to contact me via admin should you have any concerns or queries. A mobile library service will visit PP, year 1 and 2 from next week, but as we hope all students will be borrowing books again soon, it would be wonderful if library bags could be sent to school next week, week 6, to stay in the classrooms ready to go.
Many thanks for your support and patience,
Mrs Butson
