BOA S.A. SUPER REGIONAL 22ND OUT OF 72!
A Note from the Director
And that’s a wrap!!! Just like that the 2021 Jaguar Bands Competitive Marching Season is done!
What an incredible year for our marching band! We wrapped up our season with a whirlwind weekend--performing at the BOA Super Regional in San Antonio on Friday and the USBands Remo Cup Invitational in Round Rock on Saturday. When the dust settled, the Jaguar Band finished 22nd out of 72 bands. It may not sound impressive, but the BOA Super Regional in San Antonio is probably the hardest, most competitive marching contest in the country!! 22nd is an incredible place to finish at this event! There were 50 other bands that would have loved to place where we finished! Saturday’s results at the USBands Remo Cup Invitational were just as exciting! In prelims, the Jaguar Band finished 1st in our division and swept all captions! We advanced on to finals and gave an extremely emotional and captivating final performance of “Young Person’s Guide to the Neither World”! That performance scored us a 96.9 and gave us the outright Championship for this contest! It additionally helped us sweep EVERY caption!! What a way to end the season! We are so happy and proud of our Jaguar Band!
What is next you ask! Well, we start playoff football games this week! We will have only one day of practice, and that will be Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. The first playoff game is going to be at Shelton Stadium this Friday at 7:30. Please note that we will not know if we have another playoff game, where that game will be, what date that game will be on or who we will be playing until after this Friday’s game! It truly is a week-by-week announcement. Welcome to the playoffs.
We have a small group of students auditioning for the TMEA Region Orchestra this coming Saturday, and we want to wish them the very best of luck!
Also, we are going to change the date of the Christmas Concert. We currently have it on the schedule for December 10; however, that is going to be the date of the TMEA All-Region Band Concert, and we anticipate having several of our students make and participate in the Region Band. We will have our Christmas Concert at Johnson HS in our Outdoor Performance Venue! It was such a huge success last year and everyone wants to do it that way again. We will lock in the new date and get it posted ASAP!
We also want to make sure everyone has it on their calendar that we are planning to march in the Buda Christmas Parade on December 4th. That is also the second day of the Region Band auditions for many of our students. However, we are confident that we can complete the auditions and still make it back for the parade!
Let’s have a great week as we shift gears into Concert Band and Winter Guard Season!!
