The Weekly Hoot
September 17-23, 2018
Greetings All -
It is Sunday evening and I am just getting around to the Hoot. It has been a fairly relaxing weekend with not much on the agenda and I am extremely grateful for that. All of my weekends from now until the one after Thanksgiving have at least one day reserved for the Renaissance Festival, so it was nice to do "a whole lot of nothin'" this weekend!
If you are anything like me, the honeymoon is over with the beginning of school! LOL! I sort of equate it to being married. The first week of school is like the honeymoon. Everyone loves everybody and everything is just so exciting. The second week is like those first couple of years of marriage. You are just trying to figure each other out and not make each other too mad. That third week though. It's kinda like 3 or 4 years in. Everyone isn't on their best behavior anymore, people are getting on each other's nerves, and you might be just a little bit tired and irritated! LOL! That's where I am with deadlines, budget, meetings, schedules, etc... I can feel that you are there also, but guess what? We are about to hit the "smooth sailing" part. That time from the end of September until Thanksgiving break where the kiddos are behaving relatively well, STAAR isn't breathing down our necks yet, and the red hall kiddos have finally figured out how to get through the cafeteria line! It's like the BEST time at school! Hang on! We are almost there!
As I have visited a few classrooms this week and last week, I have seen some amazing things in action. I know that when we are all beginning the school year, sometimes we can get overwhelmed and wonder if we are doing anything right or making any progress at all. I assure you that you are! I see small moments every day where I know you are making a difference. No one is crying in PK anymore! I see many smiles on students' faces in the morning when they get out of their cars and other faces smiling as they get on the bus in the afternoons! Students are engaged as I observe in the classes and seem ready to learn. Yes, all of you are making progress and doing tons right! I can not thank you enough for that!
I hope everyone has had a great weekend! Every Hoot I say it, and every Hoot I mean it. You are the best group of people I could ever work with! Thank you for all you do every day.
Building Champions!
Love to all,
Marcy
