Digital Drawing and Painting: The Gnome Home
Friday, Oct. 1, 10-11 a.m. ET
SCAD illustration professor Mike Wimmer will use digital drawing painting techniques to create a fun environment of a gnome home. Learn about digital drawing apps like procreate and how to use the tools to create digital paintings.
Supplies needed: Digital tablet, such as, or iPad with procreate, or Windows-based tablet with studio pro software

Solve the Mystery: Finding Evidence in a Visual Work of Art
Friday, Oct. 1, 2-3 p.m ET
Have you ever seen a painting or sculpture and thought to yourself, "I wonder what the artist meant?" Many works of art contain clues that help viewers "read" and understand the work at a deeper level, but it takes some practice to develop those skills. Such visual analysis skills are essential for any artist or designer to learn from previous creators in their disciplines. In this workshop with SCAD associate dean Denise Smith, learn how to analyze a work of art, find clues, and construct a theory about the deeper meaning of the piece.

Brand Storytelling

From Coke to Disney to Amazon, brands have stories and need writers to craft them. Join this interactive workshop with SCAD liberal arts chair Catherine Ramsdell to explore how writers contribute to brand storytelling.

Business of Beauty and Fragrance Industry
Friday, Oct. 8, 2-3 p.m. ET
What do Rhianna, Hiram and Kylie Jenner have in common? They're all game changers in the $550 billion beauty industry. Join this presentation with SCAD associate chair Melony Moore to learn about the business of beauty and fragrance B.F.A. program. This dynamic program prepares students to become marketing executives, designers or entrepreneurs in the skincare, hair care, makeup and fragrance industries. Post-graduation, alumni work with brands such as Maybelline, M.A.C Cosmetics, Estee Lauder, Bulgari and Chanel. Join us and begin planning your career in beauty.

Mindfulness and Creativity
Friday, Oct. 15, 10-11 a.m. ET
In this workshop with SCAD liberal arts professor Irini Kokkinou, explore the theory behind mindfulness meditation, engage in a mindfulness meditation exercise while learning to improve your ability to think outside of the box, come up with multiple solutions to the same problem, and express your emotions and ideas in creative ways.

Enhancing Creativity
Friday, Oct. 15, 2-3 p.m. ET
In this workshop with SCAD advertising and graphic design chair Duke Greenhill, learn about the ingredients of creativity and several exercises to enhance your own creativity and generate creative ideas. Using these exercises, you can apply them to creative problem-solving challenges to arrive at unexpected solutions.

Social Media Storytelling: Orchestrate the brand story, curate the experience, amplify your brand voice

Join SCAD social strategy and management associate chair Oscar Betancur to learn digital marketing strategies to boost your brand story through social media platforms.

Designing Your Own Business
Friday, Oct. 22, 2-3 p.m. ET
Have you ever thought of becoming an entrepreneur? In this workshop with SCAD liberal arts professor Nadia Jacquot, students will create their own businesses. Using the Business Model Canvas, they will learn a simple, step-by-step approach to take their ideas to the next level.

Our easiest application process ever!

  • We are not asking for SAT or ACT scores this year! Test scores will not have any influence on merit scholarships.

  • No essay!

  • References are only recommended for students below a 3.0 GPA

  • Just submit the free application (on GFU website or common app) and an official transcript and the application is complete!

We are offering in-person and virtual visits! We are also encouraging students to visit us during one of our Friday @ Fox events where they will have a more immersive visit experience.

Central Washington University Admission Appointments Available

On-the-Spot Admissions:

  • While we missed being with students in-person last year, we were able to still offer Virtual On-the-Spot Admissions appointments that were very successful, and students loved the individual attention!
  • We will continue to offer these Virtual On-the-Spot Admissions appointments which students from all Washington high schools can sign up for! These will start September 28th and will continue to be offered for the foreseeable future.
  • As of now, we are unsure if we will be able to bring these in-person events back.
