The Weekly Hoot
June 10-16, 2019
Greetings All -
Hey everyone! I hope the first week of summer has treated you all very well. It looks like many of you have been at the fair and soaking in all of that fun. As you know, Donovan and I went on a big adventure out west this past week. I have posted a few pictures below. We had a blast! I did get back in time to work on Thursday. Donovan thinks it is silly to stay on a vacation more than 7 days! LOL!
Summer school begins this coming week for upcoming 1st-5th graders. 5th grade blew the STAAR test out of the water! I am writing this waiting on one more STAAR result, but I am hoping that we are able to say there will be no 5th grade summer school this year!!!
STAAR scores will be in this week for 3rd and 4th grade as well. As soon as I know all results, I will let you know for sure!
So far, the custodians have gotten the rooms in the red hall waxed, the actual red hallway waxed, and all furniture moved back in. They are working on old blue hall and green hall right now. Steady progress is being made. :) Corzine, Laney, and I will be working on some cleaning projects this week also. Can't wait to make some progress on those as well!
This coming week I will begin working on the master schedule. Pray for me! I don't care how many years we do it, it still seems to be like "starting from scratch." LOL! I can assure you that it will be ready before August 7th though. :)
We still need some teacher volunteers for story hours in July. If you can please help out, it would be greatly appreciated. From the looks of it, the first story hour was a huge success! Thank you Christena Pyle and Kirby Borski for what looked like a fun evening!
As we all know, Jaime Vezurk accepted a library position in Aldine in May. If all goes well, I will be able to fill her position this week. Looking forward to getting all personnel positions taken care of. There are a couple of more shifts maybe, but we are getting closer!
I was able to participate on Thursday in the K-2 Reading Professional Development Day. I am sorry I missed the 3-5 one. I really enjoyed everything Dannette Key had to say. I look forward in helping you all implement the scheduling aspect during your planning days. You all know how I love a schedule! LOL!
Lastly, in some of the Hoots this summer I will be asking your opinion on things. Since Awards Night, Kindergarten Graduation, and 5th grade promotion are fresh on your mind, please email me any suggestions you have about those events. I really want to hear from ya!
Lastly, ya'll don't forget to send me pictures of your summer shenanigans! I am not going to Facebook stalk this year, so if you don't send it to me (to my email please!), it's not going to get included. :)
I will be in the office every day this week. The Cajun grandchildren will be with me on Tuesday, so who knows exactly how much work will get done on that day. Also, Wednesday morning I have a couple of appointments, but other than that, if you need to see me, I'll be around!
Everyone have a great week!
Love to all,
-- Marcy :)
