NEWS & UPDATES FROM SM NORTH
CAA & CTC Students
Just a reminder that the CAA and CTC will run our "normal" schedule this week. A couple of the high schools have flipped Friday and Monday, but since it was not all five we will maintain our regular schedule. Thursday, May 12th, will be the last day seniors report to CAA or CTC. This has also been shared with our students.
Merriam Park Senior Celebration
Notes from Attendance
- Follow the directions and leave a message for the Attendance office.
- Please do not call numerous times as this will slow the process down for all.
- Leaving a message on any other number in the attendance center will not guarantee a timely response.
- We request you call a minimum of 30 minutes before your student needs to be released in order for us to have time to get your student a pass.
- They will send an electronic pass through email to your student.
Thank you for your help with this.

NEWS FROM STUDENT SERVICES

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass their classes with a D (60%) or better in order to receive credit for the class. Students not attaining credits are in danger of not graduating with their classmates. Effective the 21-22 school year, the district will no longer reclassify students. We wanted you to be aware that even though students’ grade levels will progress from 9 to 12, this will not necessarily mean your student has enough credits to meet the graduation requirements. Per the SMSD Program Planning Guide, below is the chart of the minimum number of credits students must earn in order to remain on track to graduate with their classmates.
- Students will advance forward in grade level based on the number of years they have been in high school. Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, students will no longer be required to meet a minimum credit threshold to advance to the next grade level. However, students must meet all graduation requirements in order to graduate. The following chart should be used as a guide to evaluate whether a student is on track for graduation.
GRADE LEVEL CREDIT GOAL
End of Grade 9 - 5.5 credits
End of Grade 10 - 11.5 credits
End of Grade 11 - 16.5 credits
End of Grade 12 - 23.5 credits
You can find your student’s progress with their Graduation Requirements on your Skyward home page under “Graduation Requirements”.
Summer Programs are posted on the SMSD website:
If you have questions or your student is behind on credits, please reach out to your student’s Academic Counselor by email or phone.
