A Cell is Like a Car
A car has many parts just like a cell.
The Nucleus is like the driver because....
The driver controls the car just as a nucleus controls a cell. The nucleus is the boss of the cell. It is found in the near the center of the cell. It is important because the nucleus is the brain of the cell and the cell would not be able to function without it. The driver of a car also tells the car what to do. They will use the peddles to make the car go faster or use the breaks to slow the car down. Just as the cell would not be able to function without the nucleus, the car would not be able to function without the driver. It is important because the nucleus is the brain of the cell and the cell would not be able to function without it.
The Protein is like carbon monoxide because....
It is what the car produces. A cell is made to produce proteins and either to secrete them or use them inside the cell. The protein is all over the cell and is important because it helps whatever thing it is made of develop. Even though carbon monoxide is overall not good for us, it is still what the car produces to be able to function.
The Ribosomes are like the engine because....
The engine in a car produces the "protein", carbon monoxide. The ribosomes produce the protein in a cell. This organelle is found all over the cell in the cytoplasm and on the rough ER. Producing protein for the cell is vital because the cell would have no purpose if there was no protein just like a car would be useless without an engine.
The Rough ER is like the gas tank because....
The gas tank stores and helps the gas get to the engine. The rough ER stores and helps different things travel to the Golgi Apparatus. The rough ER is connected to the nucleus and helps thing travel to their next stop. If the rough ER was not in the cell the things that are needing to be transported somewhere else will be floating in the cytoplasm. If the car did not have the gas tank it would not be able to run because no gas is getting to the engine.
The Golgi Apparatus is like the muffler because....
It is what helps the "protein" get out of the car. The Golgi helps proteins get packaged and ready to be secreted from the cell or get packaged to be used inside of the cell. The Golgi is found near the rough ER so the endomembrane system can work together. The Golgi is very important just like the muffler because if the proteins are not able to get out of the cell they might not be able to do their job and many problems can form in our bodies. If the carbon monoxide gets held up in the car, the engine could fail because of the build up of it in the engine.
The Cell Membrane is like the car doors because....
The car doors allow people to get in and outside of the car. The cell membrane allows different things to get in and out of the cell. They could be sending something off or receiving something another cell has sent just like how you could pick someone up or drop them off in a car. The cell membrane is found around the outer part of the cell. It is important because the cell would not be able to let anything in or out. It could also be attacked and potentiality have serious problems. If your car doesn't have doors, you could get hurt if you get into an accident or be locked out and never able to drive the car.
The Cytoskeleton is like the car frame because....
The car frame supports the whole car body. The cytoskeleton supports the cell just like the frame does. The cytoskeleton is located all around the cell in the cytoplasm. The cytoskeleton is important because the cell could collapse on itself causing problems to occur. If the car did not have a frame, it would not be able to be driven because the car would not be able to hold its own weight.
The Mitochondria is like the battery because....
It powers the car like the mitochondria powers the cell. The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. It provides ATP energy to help the cell function properly. There are many mitochondria's in the cell and they are found swimming in the cytoplasm. The mitochondria is important because the cell would not be able to function without power. If the mitochondria was gone, then there would be no power in the cell. If the car did not have a battery, then the car would not be able to function because the power source has been removed.
The Flagellum is like the wheels because....
The wheels make the car able to move. Just like the wheels, the flagellum helps the cell move around an organism. The flagellum is the tail on the outside of cell membrane. This organelle is important because it helps the cell move around faster and escape potential predators. If a car did not have wheels, then the car would not be able to move and the car would be useless to you're needs.
