Weekly SPED News
Ms. Kelton and Mr. Lancaster
Week 2 and 3 of At Home Learning w/ Ms. Kelton
Evan Family & Friends, We hope that you'll find our Smores Newsletters useful as we aim to deliver hopeful messages, important news and make you and your child feel connected to their school friends and staff.
Thank you so much for any and all activities your're doing alongside your child. Each activity you're doing with your kiddo facilitates active, engaged learning like reading interactively with them and asking them questions about pictures within the book like who, what, when, where, how and why something happened. Questions like how it made him/her feel, or doing math and a cultural/geographical lesson on where chocolate and sugar come from while following a recipe to create soft, warm, chocolate chip cookies or taking strolls outside and talking about the science behind nature's beauty. We understand that your plate is full between work responsibilities, parenting, teaching and just trying to keep as much normalcy for kids as possible during this uncertain time.
Keep challenging your kiddo to be innovative, resourceful, hard working and washing those hands!
We're here to happily support you in any way that we can. We love and appreciate each of you and your academic efforts and there's no doubt we miss you greatly!
Sincerely, Ms. Kelton and the awesome TRAILS team @ I W Evans.
Week 2 and 3 of At Home Learning w/ Mr. Lancaster
Welcome and let us say first and foremost... We miss all our wonderful students and we definitely appreciate all you wonderful parents for your hard work in making this "new normal" work.
This week we will start using the Zoom app to start our weekly Zoom-Ins. You should get a call or text on Monday the 6th with information informing you of your day and time we will be virtually meeting.
Also we are using several resources like Reading A-Z, ReadWorks, along with Moby Max to create content for our Online and Paper Packet students. Once again if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask us.
As many of you are aware, Governor Greg Abbott on March 31st issued an executive order that closed all schools in Texas as well as other non-essential services until May 4th. Our district Superintendent Mrs. Trompler issued a letter that details what that looks like for our district. We have completed weeks 1 and 2. Once again We are all hard at work trying to make sure that each of your child's educational needs and goals are being met. I'm so very proud of the work you all are doing and absolutely loved seeing the pictures of you all working so hard! I want to encourage our families that haven't responded to the email from EPIC to do so if you're looking for appropriate material for your children to read. You'll be able to access your child account in class. Many of these books are also testable on Renaissance Place. I would just advise you to search the book on Renaissance prior to reading if your child hopes to test over the book. This will ensure that the book is able to be tested over. Keep up the fantastic work.
