Assessment Plan Due by March 21 (reminder)

As we wrap up the third nine weeks, please be prepared to submit your grade level assessment plan for our final nine-weeks no later than Friday, March 21. Our formative, on-going common assessments should guide instructional adjustments, interventions, and enrichment.

Silent Bus Call - Silent Transitions

I routinely go outside to monitor our buses every afternoon for dismissal. However, Thursday, I walked around to see how things were going inside of the building because we have recently started having more students miss the bus or come very close to not making it to the bus in time.

Having said this, I realize we are trying to maximize our extended time, however, please make sure your students are packed up and seated with voices off for bus dismissal. The bell rings at 3:10 PM as a reminder to prepare for dismissal.

Thank you for help with this safety concern.

New starting date set for 2014-15 school year

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) released a revised 2014-15 school calendar today that calls for the district to return to school on Tuesday, August 5—one day earlier than originally scheduled. The change in the calendar is due to the need for a student/teacher holiday on November 4, which is Election Day. This day was originally slated to be a school day; however, as this year’s election includes several major races, including contests for Governor and a vacated U.S. Senate seat, election traffic is likely to be high.

Classworks Training

I have heard great reports from grade levels about our recent Classworks training. Several requests have been made for the representative to return for additional training in the fall. Therefore, we have scheduled Friday, August 1, from 9 AM - 11 AM during our pre-planning days.

Professional Learning Logs

As you complete your professional learning for our make-up days, a folder is posted outside of my office for you to turn in your learning log.

The link below will take you to the "instructional video" that I shared during our recent staff meeting should you need to review this as you complete your learning log.

Thanks for everything you do for our students. I have been very impressed at how we are using the extended time. You work hard every day to maximize student learning and I sincerely appreciate your efforts.
