Strong leadership and dedication to students
Dear families,
In my update last Friday, I noted that we would be recognizing Martin Luther King, Jr. Day for the first time this year as an official district holiday.
On Monday, I participated in several events, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration at the DECC. I was pleased to see many district employees, students and families participating in this important event, along with a wide variety of community members and leaders.
I was especially impressed with our very own Denfeld student and former school board student representative, Sariyah Crawford, who performed a powerful and engaging spoken word piece for the crowd. Strong leadership, especially when coming from our youth is such an important inspiration for the work we do.
Speaking of hard work and dedication to serving all, next week has been declared “Paraprofessional Recognition Week” in Minnesota by the governor. Our paraprofessionals provide countless supports that enhance learning, support safety, and foster positive bonds with our students, staff and families. Both my wife and I, as well as my stepson, Jaden, have served as paraprofessionals.
I want to personally thank and recognize you for your hard work and dedication to our youth.
Best Regards,
Superintendent John Magas
