Pinehill School News - 3 November
3 November 2021 - Week 3, Term 4
Message from our Principal
Kia ora tatou,
Welcome to Week 3! The term is racing by and it’s hard to believe that November is upon us!
The Prime Minister announced that Auckland will move to Level 3.2 on Tuesday 9th November at 11:59pm. Step two means that retail and public facilities will reopen and the number of people who can meet outside will increase to 25.
At Pinehill School we will continue to have supervision of our Distance Learning model onsite for those families who have no one at home to supervise their children while they are required to work. If you are a retail worker and will return to work in Level 3.2 and there is no one at home to supervise your child/ren please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 8th November mid-day. We need to receive notification, so we can plan for the staff we will be required to have onsite during this level change.
Class Placements for 2022
We have reached that time of year when teachers are starting to place children in classes for 2022. As you would appreciate, we have many things to consider when placing children together. Some of these are:
equal class sizes
balancing children with English as a second language across classes
teacher/child strengths, interests
children who learn well together
children who do not learn well together
children needing learning or behaviour support
Teachers have a lot of knowledge about their students, and parents can be assured that a considerable amount of thought goes into making the best placement for each child. Teachers will talk with the students in their class about positive learning relationships/friendships, which will be taken into account.
If you have any special considerations about your child’s placement that you wish for us to be aware of please put these in writing to email@example.com by Friday 12 November. Requests for specific teachers are not able to be accommodated. As mentioned above, friendship requests will be considered.
Full School Assembly - Monday 8th November at 9:00am
We will begin our week next week together as a school with a full school assembly on Monday 8th November at 9:00am. Please see the link below.
My apologies to our families who had difficulty logging in to the Zoom assembly this week. I’m not sure why this occurred. Please be assured we will re-share the ‘Dis moments teacher video’ we played at assembly this week with the school at our assembly on Monday. I know the students really enjoyed this and talked about it further in their zoom sessions that followed.
The assembly link will be closed until 8:30am on Monday morning. Students will be able to log in from this time.
Please ensure your child’s microphone is on mute so there is no background noise while assembly is running. Details for the zoom assembly are below.
Carla Veldman is inviting you to a scheduled Pinehill School Assembly Zoom meeting on Monday 8th November.
