What's Up At The Nest...
It has been an exciting week at OMS! This week we spent time getting to know some of our NEW owls at the nest! Students had an opportunity to color and add their unique owls to our bulletin board in the commons. We will meet with the rest of our new students next week. Have a wonderful weekend!

OMS PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES FALL 2019
Thursday, October 24 & Friday, October 25, 2019
At Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary School, we value a strong partnership between home and school. Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to share information and discuss the progress of our students. Twice a year, once in October and once in March, time is provided for conferences. The earlier time frame of October for the fall conferences will allow teachers and parents to collaborate prior to the report cards going home in mid-November. Parents will be able to register for conferences online using http://www.signupgenius.com.
Parents will be provided with directions and links to register for conferences on Tuesday, 10/15/19, at 10 am. The registration window for fall conferences will be Tuesday, 10/15/19 at 10 am through Tuesday, 10/21/19 at 10 am.
The conferences are scheduled in 20-minute increments. In order to be fair and equitable to all our OMS families, parents may sign up for only one evening conference each year. Parents may choose to either sign up for an evening conference in the fall or in the spring, not both.
A couple of reminders:
4th/5th Grade Parents - The conference times are for meeting with your child’s homeroom teacher. If your child has a different teacher for math and you have specific math questions, please email him or her.
Please remember that these two days are set aside for the purpose of conferences, not as vacation days. If you will be out of town during the conference days, please consider contacting your child’s teacher to arrange a phone, Google Hangout, FaceTime, or Skype meeting during a regular conference time slot.
We look forward to seeing you on October 24th or 25th for your child's conference!
International Walk to School Day - Wednesday, October 2nd!
The purpose of this day is to encourage physical activity, healthier habits, environmental concerns, and safe routes to school. We hope many OMS families will join us on this day as well as consider this a preferred option for getting to and from school, weather permitting, throughout the school year.
If there is inclement weather a text message and email blast will be sent out by 8:00 am if we need to cancel.
OMS staff members will meet up with families at the locations below to walk together to school.

Just as a reminder, while first and graders practice many of the skills in gym class that are part of the FitnessGram, they are not assessed until their third grade year.
