Mission Statement
More than competency in the basic skills of reading, writing, and math, it is this school’s mission to nurture in each child:
The habit of creative independent thinking, a positive self-image, an attitude of social cooperation and moral responsibility, pride in self, community, state, and country,
and
The ability to be a producer, not just a consumer,
of Knowledge.
“In this school, we reach for the stars.”
A Message from Mrs. Sciba
Our staff returned this week and they are so excited to serve our families! They are busy getting their learning platforms loaded with great lessons and contacting families to ensure everyone has what they need to be successful. We are also reviewing safety protocols so that we are keeping our staff and students safe and healthy. In this newsletter, we've included a lot of information. Please reach out to our office staff, administrators, or your child's teacher if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you virtually or in person very soon!!!
We are looking forward to great year at Rice Elementary!!

Dyslexia News
Dyslexia interventions will begin August 17. All dyslexia group times will be conducted virtually using zoom through September 4. Student groups will meet twice a week for 1 hour. Parental/guardian permission forms are required for student participation in virtual groups. The forms will be emailed to parents. Beginning August 24, parents or guardians may choose to drop off their student at Rice for their scheduled dyslexia group time if desired. All other students will continue to join their group virtually using zoom. The week of September 8 we will switch to our regular in person 30-minute groups 5 days a week. Parents may also continue to drop off their student during their scheduled group time or continue joining the group using zoom.
Dysgraphia interventions will begin August 17. These will be done through the learning platforms Seesaw or Canvas. In person dysgraphia intervention will be done in the classroom this year and not in a small group.
