The Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) is a state-wide, non-profit, membership-driven organization that offers a variety of educational programs geared toward making Texas more tangible for students. Big changes are coming to the Fort Worth Zoo and things are about to get wilder. Come find out how the Zoo is utilizing the latest STEM innovations for new exhibit space, renovated habitats, and new ways to observe, interact with, and learn about animals. The program will include a live interview with a zookeeper and a live animal presentation.

Join Thomas Borcher as he discusses three landmark supreme court cases. One major case that he will highlight is Texas vs Johnson of 1990. This case dealt with flag burning and begs the question, what defines free speech? Thomas Borcher makes you wonder, if you were on the Supreme Court how would you have decided?

La Belle: The Ship that Changed History

In the Field with Migrating Monarchs

Join Park Ranger Craig Hensley from a field of milkweed plants inside Guadalupe River State Park. In this LIVE program, he will be looking for eggs, larvae, and adult Monarch Butterflies to show students. In addition, he’ll discuss: the life cycle (metamorphosis) of the Monarch as it relates to its migration in general, and through Texas in Spring and Fall; its relationship with the milkweed plant; mimicry and warning coloration; predation; and the milkweed plant as its own mini-ecosystem. We can’t wait to catch some butterflies with you!

ART + MATH + LANGUAGE ARTS ALL IN ONE PROGRAM!
Celebrate the arrival of Spring and learn the traditional art of Pysanky, Ukrainian egg decoration.
Students will read Rechenka’s Eggs, and discover connections between illustrations by author/artist Patricia Polacco and artworks from the Old Jail Art Center’s Collection.
Each student will design their own egg in Ukrainian style, using geometric and organic designs. This project will include a review of 2D versus 3D forms, as well as the division of shapes into halves and fourths.
