How do I sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences?

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October 6th (8:00 AM-8:00 PM) and October 7th (8:00 AM-12:00 PM).

If you have not selected a time using the Home Access Center (HAC) and the PIck-a-Time link, you will now need to email your child's teacher directly to arrange a time to meet. We want to make sure we connect with each and every student's parent/guardian.

Thanks! Need help, please call the School Office (331) 228-3300.

Do you want to meet with one or more of the Specials Teachers?

In addition to meeting with your child's grade level teacher, you are welcome to connect with any of our Specials teachers to discuss your child's progress in their class. You certainly do not need to do this, however, if you want to meet with any of the teachers below, simply email them and let them know. They will work with you to find a time to meet.

WALK BIKE & ROLL

International WALK TO SCHOOL DAY is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record-breaking participation – each October. On Wednesday, October 12th, thousands of schools across America – from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico – participate every October.

At Anderson, we have a few different ways kids can participate in this fun and healthy event.

1. Kids can still ride the bus or get dropped off at school just like a normal day. We will have a short "track" set up for them to walk around our playground area before entering the school. We will have staff supervising and music playing!

2. Kids can walk/bike to school only if there is a safe passage. We do not want kids riding bikes or walking on streets that are not designed for foot traffic. We always encourage parents to walk along with them.

Halloween Costume Parade and Classroom Parties

PARADE

On Friday, Oct. 28th, (2:00-2:20 PM) Anderson will have a Costume Parade to celebrate all things fall and fun! If your child wants to wear a costume in our parade, they are welcome to bring a simple costume to school. Their teacher will give them time before the parade begins to change into the costume. Please keep all costumes simple enough that your child can put them on themselves. (Please no violent-themed costumes. No Blood/Guts... Remember we have younger students)

Parents/guardians, Grandparents are welcome to come to view the parade. The parade route will make its way outside to the back of the school. We will have cones set up marking the route.

CLASSROOM PARTY

Each classroom will celebrate all the hard work they have done since the start of school by having a party on Friday, Oct. 28th. (Approx: 2:20-2:50 PM). Each grade level and teacher may need parents helpers to plan, host, or simply help in the classroom for the party. See info from your child's teacher regarding their plans for the class party. We highly recommend that all students take their "normal" transportation home. This keeps our dismissal process smooth and safe for all kids.

NEED TO KNOW INFO:

  • Also, just a reminder, that all volunteers also need to bring a current driver's license or state ID in order to comply with the D303 Security Check before they enter the building.

Who's GaGa for GaGa Ball!

You may have heard your child talk about playing Gaga ball in gym class.

Our PE teacher, Mr. Navis, submitted a grant request and was awarded a grant towards the purchase of a Gaga ball set and additional funds were provided by the PTO to cover a portion of the cost. Thank you Anderson PTO!

What is Gaga ball you may ask - Gaga is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit.

The Gaga ball pit arrived last week, and some of the gym classes have been using the Gaga ball game. Its been a big hit in gym!

Say hello to our new GaGa Ball Pit. Thanks Mr. Navis for applying for a grant through the D303 Foundation! Also thank you Anderson PTO for helping us... | By Anderson Elementary School | Facebook

Friendly Reminders from the School Office

As the start of fall officially started this week and students have been getting used to the routines of school, its a good time to give a few reminders to help the school day run smooth.

Is your child going to be absent?

If your child will not be coming to school, please leave a message on the attendance line early in the morning. To call in your child, simply call the main office and leave a message on the attendance line. The number is 331-228-3300.

Please include the reason for absence - sick, an appointment, vacation, etc. ( Please note that if your child is sick, they should be fever free and have no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school). Of course, you can always email the teacher as well, but you need to formally notify the school of any student absence.

Is your child leaving school early?

Also, if you will be picking up your child early or taking your child out for an appointment, please let our front office know as early in the day as possible by calling the main number at 331-228-3300. This can be very helpful should a pick-up time be when the child is in specials or at lunch. Kids can be indoors as well as outdoors depending on their schedule and it can take a few extra minutes to locate and get the child down to the office for an early pickup if they are not in their classroom.

Will your child have a change in transportation?

If so, please let us know as early as possible in the day if there is a change in transportation for that day. Dismissal time can be very hectic and to help ensure a smooth dismissal, getting any transportation changes for students early is very helpful. Simply call the school office and let them know.

Note: Save our school number in your contacts. Anderson School Main Number: (331) 228-3300.
