An Experience Like No Other

Punxsutawney – home of the world-famous furry weather forecaster – is also known as “The Weather Capital of the World.” That makes the Weather Discovery Center the ultimate destination to learn how the science and folklore of weather prediction collide!

Purpose of Outing: Educational and Social

Students may record 90 minutes of Science and 30 minutes of Language Arts for this outing on the OLS.

Admission is only $4.00 for adults and children - and kids under age 2 are admitted for free!

10:45am-11:00am: Arrival and Sign In

11:00am-12:00pm: Tour the Weather Discovery Center

12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch and Dismissal

Learning Objectives

Students will:

• Climb into the power of a tornado
• See and feel the effects of lightning
• Explore Punxsutawney Phil’s burrow
• Become a TV weather forecaster
• Create a thunderstorm with friends
• Watch movies in the Catastrophic Theater
• Discover the science behind extreme weather
• Learn how animals were used to forecast weather
