Safety & Security

A sense of safety and security is essential when seeking to build connection and belonging in our community. The security of students and staff is a top priority, so as a community, we must be aware of the tools we have to report any potential incidents of bullying, harassment or intimidation. The Stay Safe, Speak Up! public hotline and app on all student iPads allow confidential reports of possible safety or bullying issues. For more, check out this poster.

Family Connection Webinar Series

Consider joining us on September 13 at 4:30 p.m. for our first webinar. We will be discussing the academic supports we have to offer at UAHS as well as how to interpret the Ohio State Test results.

Attendance Procedures Attendance Procedures

Attendance Notifications

Attendance is a critical component to learning. Students need to show up in order to take full advantage of the education programs we offer. We have begun notifying students and families via email when a student has had an unexcused absence from class. Students have next week to ensure they are taking responsibility for their attendance in each class, including Forum. Beginning August 28, students will be assigned consequences for skipping any class.

Reporting an Absence

In order to streamline the absence reporting process, we ask that parents leave a voicemail on the attendance line (614-487-5213), or complete the Absence Notification Form available on the high school website and on the Upper Arlington City Schools APP. We will no longer accept emails. By using the Absence Notification Form, we are able to organize and record absence requests in a more efficient manner. Note that the form will collect your email address, which we will use to verify the request, so please use an email address that is on file in PowerSchool. Additionally, parents should follow the instructions in the online form to also submit a Pre-Planned Absence Request.

Pre-Planned Absence Forms

A Planned Absence Excuse Form should be printed, signed and turned in to the Attendance Secretary in the Main Office at least 10 days in advance, when possible.

Passes

Students will need a pass if they will be leaving during a class period. If the student knows in advance that this will be the case, they should stop by the Main Office Attendance Desk to pick up a pass at the beginning of the school day or prior to that class.

Medical Notes

Please submit your medical notes to uahsattendance@uaschools.org. In order for attendance hours to not accumulate towards habitual absence triggers, medical documentation is needed.
