Photographer
A Photographer records events and tells stories using images. Industrial and Commercial photographers take pictures of subjects, such as people, products or landscapes, to be used in promotional media, like advertisements or books. Often, this involves the use of different equipment, such as artificial light, multiple lenses and tools for touching up or enhancing photographs. Much of this work is done on location in various environments, both indoor and outside.
Required Education
An Associates degree in Photography. Photographers must have an innate artistic 'eye', but they must also be educated on the technical aspects of operating camera equipment.
Growth and Salary
Employment of Photographers is projected to grow 4% from 2012 to 2022 slower than average for all occupations.
Photographers earned a median annual salary of $28,490and median hourly wages of $13.70 in 2012(US). The top ten percent make $62,340 a year or more.
