LES Spring Fun Run Update
Parents, thank you all so much for supporting this year’s LES Spring Fun Run! If you haven’t registered your student yet, you can do so this weekend on funrun.com by searching for our school or using our school’s registration code: 774-987. This weekend we have a special challenge where students can receive an additional reward when they get new pledges. You can learn more on funrun.com. Thank you again for supporting our school!
We invite you to come out on Friday, April 12th and cheer students on during our Spring Fun Run! If it rains, the Spring Fun Run will be moved to the gym.
9:15 -10:15: Grades K, 1, and 3 AND 10:15-11:15: Grades 2, 4, and 5
From Administration
Happy Spring! It seems that Mother Nature is taking us on a roller-coaster of changing temperatures. It’s nice to see the grass getting a little greener and the skies a little bluer.
As Spring moves in, all of us have a bit of extra energy. The excitement of summer vacation two months away is upon us. Please take a few minutes to review our school wide expectations of being Safe, On task, Accountable, Responsible, and Respectful. Your help and reinforcement support us in making it to the end of the year while keeping our strength of character intact! With more daylight time students are able to benefit from more fresh air in their day. We encourage all of our students to be active during recess and after school. As the spring temperatures are ever changing, please be sure to check the weather and make sure your child is dressed appropriately.
Spring is also another wonderful time in a school year to celebrate! We begin to truly reflect on our experiences and how much we have grown. As educators, we celebrate the gains our students have made and begin to start thinking about how we can serve them in the upcoming year. We encourage you to lead your child in reflection about their school year and support them in their own personal goals, not just for school and academics, but also consider other aspirations they may have. Maybe they would like to run a race or become a better soccer or baseball player, set a goal to read 10 books during summer vacation, or maybe they aspire to be more adventurous or brave by trying something new!
It's hard to believe that we are in the homestretch! Third through Fifth graders will be taking the PARCC Assessment after spring break, starting April 30th. We are so proud of how hard the students have worked to show us their best and the guidance of their awesome teachers.
A special thank you to Mrs. Rohrer and Mrs. Lewis for their help and support in making sure our testing is running smoothly. Specific dates are listed below for PARCC.
This month I would also like to give a special thank you to all of our volunteers. There is no real adequate way to thank you for all that you do for our school. Your time, care, dedication, and love for both children and education is appreciated and we are beyond grateful every day for all of you! We are blessed to have so many parents, grandparents, and even the support of former teachers during the day and after school enriching the experience of our students and providing them with some extra practice and support.
No matter how big or small your contribution, from chaperoning a field trip to helping on a regular basis, we appreciate you!
Message from the PTA President
Dear LES families,
This 2018-2019 school year has been very successful thanks to our board members, administrators, teachers, volunteers and students! While the PTA is not sponsoring the Fun Run we help the school to find volunteers for their events such as the book fair, fitness nights and fun run while also running our own fundraisers and free events for the students and families at LES. Two of our last sponsored events include Spring Cinema Night on April 26th and LES Teacher Appreciation Week beginning May 6th. More details will be coming after spring break!
We are hoping to continue our success into the next school year and are looking for a Vice President and Fundraiser Chair for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding these positions or if you are interested in helping the PTA in other ways.
Thank you again for the support of our school and PTA!
Smiles,
Megs Anderson
