Gentle Reminders

Heating System Fixed

Last week, I sent an email explaining that students would be allowed to wear extra layers because our heating system was undergoing maintenance and would temporarily be shut off. I am glad to report that everything is now working, so layers beyond what is prescribed in our students dress code will not be needed moving forward.

No School This Friday

On Friday, November 12 we will be having a staff development day. This means that there will be no classes for students.

End of 1st Trimester

Our first trimester of school officially ends on Friday, November 19. Parent-Teacher Conferences will follow during the first week of December. Details on signing-up for a conference will be shared in the coming weeks.

Restorative Justice at Home (Part 2)

Last week, I introduced to you the efforts we are putting in at school to implement Restorative Justice practices with our students. If you would like to review, click on this link for a look at Restorative Practices at St. Stan's. Additionally, I sent home a lesson you could do with your child(ren) to reinforce the concept of RESPECT and what it means for different members of your family. To view that lesson again, please click on this link.

The Restorative Justice at Home lesson for this week focuses on creating family circles by which to have discussions and resolve conflicts. To make sure that members do not talk over one another, a "talking piece" is introduced to make sure that each member is heard. These techniques are used in school to help students discuss their feelings, resolve conflicts, and simply practice listening. Please click on this link to view more information on how you too can implement these practices at home.

St. Stan's Toy Drive

We will have boxes set up in the school building. The toys will be dropped off in the 14th District CPD for their Toys for Tots drive.
