Arithmetic Sequence

When the difference between one term and the next is a constant (add a value each time).

Can be written as {a, a+d, a+2d, a+3d, ...} where a is the 1st term and d is the common difference between the terms

The following rule can be used to find any term (n is the term number) in the sequence:

GEOMETRIC SEQUENCE

each term is found by multiplying the previous term by a constant.

Can be written as {a, ar, ar^2, ar^3, ...} where a is the 1st term and r is the common ratio between the terms (Note: r cannot equal 0)
