Principal Message

Dear Lane Families,

As we move into second semester, we have a few staff changes at Lane.

Ms. Nelson will be joining us in the PE department. Mr. Burlew will be teaching 2nd semester at Central.

In German, we will have a long term sub. and the class will be using an on-line curriculum.

Thank you to those who attended the PTA presentation about current trends with alcohol, substances, ecigs/juuling. Staff will have a similar training at this week's staff meeting. We feel and I am sure parents do as well that is important to stay informed on these topics.

We are looking forward to a successful second semester. Lane continues to set high goals and expectations for all students in order to achieve academic success.

Have a great weekend!

New AP - Mr. Hammernik

I am very excited to become the new Associate Principal of Lane Intermediate School. I have committed my entire professional career to the West Allis West Milwaukee School District for 18 plus years:

West Allis Central – 8 years, teacher and 2 years, Dean of Students Frank Lloyd Wright – 5 years, Associate Principal West Milwaukee Intermediate - 2.5 years, Associate Principal

I am excited to have the opportunity to work with each of you! Together, it is important that we establish trust, open communication and proactive teamwork. It is my responsibility to listen, identify and address needs, while supporting each of you!

Positive Calls

We are recognizing the positive achievements of our students. The goals of this system are to: 1) recognize students who are doing positive things; 2) strengthen teacher-student relationships; 3) strengthen peer-peer relationships; and 4) reduce negative behaviors; resulting in a stronger and more positive culture and climate in our school.

The process is simple. When a teacher catches a student performing one or more of the tasks on the Positive Behavior Referral, they will fill out the form and turn it into the office. Once a week, the students will be called down to the office to be recognized for their efforts, receive a small prize, and a positive phone call home. At the end of the month there will be a drawing from the referrals for the Student of the Month and the Teacher of the Month who will receive a gift card and have their photos posted on our social media sites.

Thank you for all your support in ensuring our students have a positive experience at Lane Intermediate School!
