The Markley

Great Valley School District

Message from Dr. Hoffritz

We are off to a great start back with students! Thank you so much for your support in getting our students into the school routine. Students are excited to see their friends and teachers every day. As a staff, we love to welcome our friends back into the building and see the enthusiasm they have for returning to learning. We look forward to a great year together; one filled with both learning and fun.

Below are some of the many examples of the great things happening at KDM, and other important events and information.

Pillars of character here at KDM are alive and thriving!

We as a school support, educate and encourage the pillars of character (caring, citizenship, fairness, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness) throughout the day. We do this by teaching the children through role modeling and communication. KDM Keys are back and children have already started earning them, for going above and beyond expectations during their school day😊

STEAM in action!

3rd grade has been working their way through the engineering design process to explore and design the appropriate bridge to overcome various obstacles.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15th – October 15th. It is a great way to celebrate and recognize the contributions of Latinos to mainstream America — from the sciences and politics to the arts, activism, sports and education. It is a time to share traditions of those who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. The month also recognizes the independence days of five Latin American countries. We look forward to celebrating and sharing more information with you over the next few weeks.

Author Visit

KDM was excited to host a virtual author visit with Katherine Applegate (The One and Only Ivan, Wishtree, Willodeen) for grades 3 – 5 on Monday, September 13 .

Message from the Nurse's Office

We are so happy to see the students back in school and we know that they are happy to be here. It is with your partnership that we can navigate this pandemic together and keep school safe. We’d like to remind you of the symptoms that the CDC has reported for unvaccinated students under the age of 12.

They are:

  • · fever
  • · cough
  • · trouble breathing
  • · symptoms of a cold such as a sore throat, congestion, or a runny nose
  • · chills
  • · muscle pain
  • · headache
  • · a loss of taste or smell
  • · nausea or vomiting
  • · diarrhea
  • · tiredness

It is important that you keep your children with any of these symptoms at home and it is recommended that they get a COVID test to rule out a COVID infection. If you have any questions about whether your child should be sent to school, please call the office in the morning.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance!

Car Line - Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Thank you! KDM's car line continues to runs so efficiently because you are doing it right!. Please remember to follow the directions of the staff monitors and move your cars forward as far as possible. Once you drop off your child, please leave promptly..
