JCS Journal

I hope you and your family had a nice winter break. I had an opportunity to spend some time with my three grandchildren, Alex, Walter, and Viera, and with my daughter who was home from Sweden. Now we are back in school and working hard to meet our grade level learning goals!

Since coming back from the break, K-3 teachers have had an opportunity to learn more about the Reading and Writing Workshop model. Kelly True, a reading consultant, has been working with the grade level teacher teams from LGN and JCS.

Term 2 Progress Reports

Thank you to all our families that were able to attend a December conference with their child's teacher! Since our conferences took place so recently, we will not be sending home Term 2 progress reports with all students. Teachers may send home a progress report to students that may be working below expectations for this term. If you have any questions about your child's progress, please be sure to contact their classroom teacher.

Calendar Adjustment

Please note the following adjustment to the calendar:

  • Grades close on Friday, March 13th
  • Report cards go home on Monday, March 30th
  • Parent Conferences are on April 1st and 2nd

Lost and Found

We have a HUGE collection of coats and other items. Please come to check the lost and found, if you are missing any items, or ask your child to check. We will be donating all items to charity after February 14th.

Arrival and Dismissal

Thank you to all of you who are following the traffic pattern, quickly dropping off all along the circle, and using the crosswalk to cross the street. The volume of traffic is challenging, but with your help, we can make the process safe for everyone!

Upcoming Events

Please check the JCS Calendar for upcoming events and the Reading Connection for tips to help your child at home.

I hope 2020 will be terrific for you and your family!

Best regards,

Mrs. Bolton
