A Message from Superintendent Dr. Shawn Olson ~ May 7, 2021
It’s hard to believe it’s May already! I continue to be amazed by our incredible students, families, and D140 staff and the way in which they have risen to the challenges of this school year.
As we wrap up Teacher Appreciation Week, I’d like to thank our teachers, paraeducators, and support staff for the professionalism and innovation they’ve displayed this year. To say that they have gone above and beyond is a dramatic understatement. The level of flexibility and dedication that they have continually shown is second to none. I am so proud of all that they have been able to achieve with and for our students and families.
As we look toward the end of the school year, I am pleased to see the resumption of some in-person sports and events, especially surrounding the class of 2021. Modified soccer and track seasons, band, graduation, and activities for our fifth and eighth grade students are planned for May and June. It feels like a return to some semblance of normalcy. Hopefully, this is a foundation we will continue to build upon throughout the summer and into the 2021-22 school year. I am looking forward to brighter days ahead.
Dr. Shawn M. Olson
