Administrators have to make very unpopular decisions on a regular basis. In a "normal" year, making the decision to call a snow day is stressful, knowing that you can only, "please 50 percent of the people, 50 percent of the time." Now with the health pandemic and the recent incident at Oxford, the stress of making the hard calls has been exacerbated. The decision to close Holly Academy Thursday and Friday was a very difficult one. I appreciate the outpouring of support from our Husky families that occurred after you heard the news of our closing. Please know that it is never my desire to close school, when the decision is made it comes after discussions with our Board President, Mr. Cruickshank, and other members of our administrative team. Thank you for making the power of our pack so strong! Dare to be remarkable!

Lil' Shopper's Shoppe

The Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe is returning this year December 7th-9th! This is where students have an opportunity to shop for inexpensive holiday gifts for family and friends.

This holiday event will be our first foray into having multiple volunteers in the building. Should you wish to volunteer for the Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe, please understand that you must follow the Oakland County mask mandate for schools. Volunteers will help set up and assist students in the shop. If you’d like to volunteer, please sign up below. If you have any questions, please email the PTO at PTO.hollyacademy@gmail.com

Elves at Work

It's beginning to look like a wintery wonderland at HA! Under the direction of Laura Petrauskas, so many wonderful volunteers created door decorations and themes to make the school so festive. 8th Grade Transition: As a friendly reminder, if you are a parent of an 8th grader, please be sure you fill out the 8th grade High School Choice Google Form sent two weeks ago OR you can fill out the hard copy that was also sent home with your student. The due date for your high school choice is Monday, December 6th.

I know this has been a challenging week for all of us, so hope you can find some extra down time with your loved ones.

Holiday Tradition

A Holly Academy tradition is for everyone to dress down following a daily theme the week prior to winter break (beginning Dec. 13th)!

Monday: holiday hat

Tuesday: holiday socks

Wednesday: holiday accessory or flannel

Thursday: holiday top

Friday: ugly holiday sweater or "you choose"

* students who do not celebrate holidays can dress down each day without following the theme

Husky Helps Pantry

Earlier this school year our Huskies donated items to help replenish our Husky Helps Pantry. We are excited to open the pantry to any families in need. We have been patiently waiting for the installation of a door buzzer to allow families to enter the school near the pantry. However, like most things these days, labor and material shortages have continued to be an issue.

If you are in need of any assistance, please reach out to Angie Cryderman at crydermana@hollyacademy.org to schedule a time for you to gather any items you need from the pantry. She will let you into the building near the Husky Helps pantry. If you are not comfortable entering the building, you can also email her a list of items you need, and she will gather these items and let you know when they are ready and you can do a curbside pick up. Please know that she will keep your identify confidential.

In addition to the food items in the picture, there are also cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, and other personal hygiene products.
