Claxton Winter Dance!

Our winter dance is going to be a blast! I hope that many of you will be able to attend. Here are some notes about how the dance will work:

  • Every student needs to have a permission form filled out to attend the dance. These went home on Friday.
  • Students must stay after school to attend the dance-- they cannot leave and come back.
  • All students must be picked up at 4:30, and students cannot leave early. This becomes a safety concern when students leave the dance early, and then we cannot find them at dismissal time!
  • If your child has a special outfit they would like to wear to the dance, they are welcome to either wear it to school or change at the end of the day.

You can help support the dance by signing up to bring food or signing up to help out for a while on the Google Sheet below. Thank you!

Hour of the Code

Our class LOVED participating in Hour of the Code this week! Many of them expressed interest in learning more about coding, so I have included the link to the Hour of the Code games below. These are fun and engaging games that help students learn the fundamentals of coding.

Peek at the Week

Math: In math this week, we will be wrapping up our unit on division, with our test on Friday.

Language Arts: We will continue accountability in daily five this week! Each day, the students will track their choices and what they accomplished during each round. Students will have the option to listen to reading, read to someone, read to self, work on words, and work on writing. We are focusing on how to write a well constructed response using evidence from the text.

In writing, we will begin our new unit on opinion writing.

Science: We are completing our short unit on electricity this week, with a quiz on Friday.
