It is important because Ecotourism is a growing segment of the global tourism industry that is making significant positive contributions to the environmental, social, cultural and economic well-being of destinations and local communities around the world.
Sea Turtles
Several beaches in Nicaragua, both in the Pacific and in the Caribbean, are among the few places in the world where sea turtles arrive. Sometimes in huge numbers they lay their eggs. This interesting event, which is very attractive to international tourists, occurs several times per year. There are, however, several things that threaten this beautiful natural happening.

Sea Turtle ecotourism brings economic benefit to the community. Economic incentives and increased protection for sea turtles were mentioned as benefits of sea turtle ecotourism.
