Sweetwater Union High School District received in 2017 a three year grant from the Department Of Defense (DOD) for the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) College Readiness Program to dramatically increase student access to rigorous STEM AP courses in the areas of English, Math, Science, and Computer Science.


Year 1: 2017-18 * Year 2: 2018-19 * Year 3: 2019-2020

Location: Olympian High School (SUHSD)


* Intended for ALL STEM non-AP teachers from 7th to 12th across all our district schools.

* AP STEM teachers are not required to attend but are welcome.

Can you believe the end of another school year is quickly approaching? It has been a great year and we hope you are just as excited as we are for honorarium payments! Please read this email in its entirety before submitting for your NMSI honorarium.

NMSI Student Award Payment

Dear AP STEM Teachers,

Students will be paid $100 per AP STEM course immediately upon verification of their qualifying scores (3 or higher) with an Amazon gift card that will be delivered to their email address.

NMSI OUTSTANDING TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

DEPARTMENT GOALS ATTAINMENT

In preparation for the AP exam results per department, per school, please complete the following online application. Deadline June 22, 2018.

* Department goals; English, Math and Science goal (All AP teachers collectively, in department, working toward goal)

* Goals are calculated by looking at the previous two years of qualifying scores. Higher score is the baseline. Baseline is applied to NMSI matrix and goals are set.

*Goals are number of qualifying scores (not a percent pass rate). A qualifying score is 3 or higher.

* If goal is met, all members of the AP Dept. are elegible to receive a teacher scholarship.

* Teacher scholarship amount and goal is EITHER Tier 1 OR Tier 2 (not AND)

Tier 1 goal teacher scholarship amount is $1,000

Tier 2 goal teacher scholarship amount is $2,000

* Teacher scholarship applications will be completed in advance (May-June)

* If school reaches Campus Goal, the school receives a scholarship of $1,000
