April 2022
Masks Off and Smiles On!
It has been a long stretch of hard work and uncertainty, but the upcoming Spring Break will offer students a well deserved respite. This past Friday was the end of the third marking period with less than 10 weeks remaining in the school year. Report cards will be distributed this Thursday with students. I hope that Spring Break allows all of our Jefferson families time to rest, relax, and regroup for the last little bit of the school year.

Celebration Thursday
The Friends of Jefferson Parent Group will be providing a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, and popcorn for students to enjoy during the day.
This will be a great way to celebrate all the hard work so far in this school year.

Character Strength of the Week: Fairness
Dear Families, This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Fairness. Fairness means you believe that all people have value. You approach situations with an unbiased mindset and treat everyone with respect. Fairness is the product of moral judgement -- the process by which people determine what is morally right and what is morally wrong. Moral reasoning has been explored and analyzed in two main traditions: the justice reasoning approach and the care reasoning approach. For individuals, cultivating the character strength of fairness is correlated with highly desirable developmental outcomes. It helps people to become trustworthy friends, responsible citizens, and generally moral people. To practice and encourage the character strength of fairness with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you will watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions. Have a wonderful week!
Positivity Project character strength -- Fairness.
The character strength of Fairness means that you believe that everyone is important. You keep an open mind and treat everyone with respect.
Remember, a person can demonstrate fairness every single day! As you go through
your day, be sure to look for opportunities to treat others with fairness.
What does it look like?:
People with the character strength of Fairness believe that everyone deserves respect and no one deserves to be discriminated against for any reason.
They believe everyone should get a fair share and they work hard to treat people the way
they want to be treated.
