Happy Weekend, ECEC Community!
Can you believe that we have made it to the end of this school year?!?!?! It has been quite the ride, and I couldn't be prouder of our staff, students, and families! Everyone has had to endure a year like none other and should be commended for the resilience that was shown through all the different twists and turns that were encountered along the way.
FIRST, our staff.......I am sure you would agree that they have been rockstars through all of this! First remote, then hybrid, then fully in-person. They had to become producers, directors, and participants in their own television shows while teaching your kids virtually first, then doing both simultaneously (probably the hardest thing they have ever had to do in their careers), and then welcoming them back to their classrooms under extreme conditions that were just not "right" for our littlest learners, but you know what?!?! They did it!! They did it with grace. They did it with motivation. They did it with perseverance. Was it hard? YES! Was it frustrating at times? YES! Was it exhausting? YES!!
BUT, they made the most of challenging circumstances, and I couldn't be prouder of this group of educators who always did what they did in the best interest of your littlest learners!
NEXT, our families......you have had to manage all of this school year by becoming teachers to your kids at home, social workers and counselors when the emotions rolled through your homes, and managers of all the changing conditions around your own jobs, responsibilities, and all the other pieces of being a parent during a pandemic, which, of course, no one has written a manual about!
LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST.........our littlest learners!! I think we all could agree that they are the ones who often helped most of us through some of the most challenging times we experienced. I was continuously amazed at how well they did with wearing their masks, social distancing, and following the guidelines in their classrooms! They were the ones who were reminding their parents about masks when they exited the cars in the morning. They were the ones who were reminding friends that they were too close to each other. And, they were the ones who were sure to wash their hands and sanitize their desks after snack and lunch.
Because we were so lucky to be in person for so much longer than many school districts this year, we all benefitted from having your children in the building, listening to their voices, and seeing them each and every day. THEY were the ones who made our days brighter, helped us to smile on some of the toughest days, and got us through a year that presented so many challenges. We are so thankful for the impact your children had on helping us to make it to this point in the school year. For that, we will be forever grateful.
As you close the book on this school year, and open the book on this summer, I encourage you to make the most of break before the new school year. PLEASE let your children play and be kids!! Let them hug family and friends they haven't seen. Let them have fun and celebrate this break that we all need!!
THANK YOU for all you have done as parents for your kids and for us! Although this was a tough year, we will be eternally grateful for the time spent with your children that helped us to laugh, smile, and love through it all!!
Have a wonderful summer!
Kim
