Stone Bank School
Reaching Out ~ April 8, 2016
From The Principal
Beginning the week of April 11th, students will begin taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam for grades 3-8. Hopefully you had a chance to read the informational packet that came home just before the break. A reminder will be sent home prior to the week your child's grade level will begin testing. If you have questions or concerns about your child's participation in the assessment, please contact me directly.
Later in the month of April you will receive an email requesting your participation in a parent survey. Please take a few minutes to let us know how we are doing! The results of the survey will be utilized as part of our school improvement process. Stay tuned for more information!
Parents of 8th graders: Look for information this week regarding graduation and end of the year activities.
Summer School
The Summer School website has had some glitches. Please access their website via our Stone Bank Website. There is a link for Summer School on our front page. Registration will begin on Monday, April 11th. Summer School will be held at Stone Bank School this year and will run from June 15th - July 13th, 8:00am - 12:00pm. http://www.2016summerschool.com/
School Hours
Stone Bank School teaching hours are 7:35 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. All students must ride the bus home or be picked up at the end the school day if they are not attending 9th hour study hall (6th - 8th grade only), working in the Library, or working with their teacher. If a student is attending an after school sport that starts at 4:00 p.m. the student may not stay at school unsupervised in the school building or out on the playground. Your child's safety is our priority. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

VEX Robotics Middle School National Champions from Oconomowoc!
Three teams from Oconomowoc competed at the VEX Robotics National Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa this past weekend. In the middle school division of the 88 teams were SLIBorg from Silver Lake Intermediate and Hyperdrive from the Lake Area Robotics Club. In the high school division of the 85 teams were The FIVE. After the preliminary rounds SLI Borg were 6-4 and ranked 25th, Hyperdrive were 8-2 and ranked 4th, The FIVE were 6 -4 and ranked 28th. SLIBorg lost in finals, The Five lost in the quarter-finals.
Team Hyperdrive, Tony Rodriguez, Aiden Jacobsen, Owen Jacobsen, Hans Jacobsen and Max Knuth, are the new VEX Robotics Middle School National Champions! The team selected an alliance of three teams and battled their way to the top. Tony and Aiden were the robot drivers and Owen, Hans and Max were the pit crew who kept the robot working. The finals were filled with suspense as they lost the first match, won the second and then won the tie breaker. The boys are thrilled to bring home the championship to Oconomowoc. The boys would like to thank the OHS FIRST Robotics team for being their mentors.
Classroom Placement
Our school is committed to providing a quality education in every classroom to every student. Creating the student make up of each class is a carefully planned procedure that teachers and administration take seriously. Teachers use their informed judgement to place students in balanced classes. Each child’s strengths, learning style, and his/her level of performance and maturity factor into the selection process. Most importantly, the goal of the school is to ensure that the decisions made benefit all the students. Parents naturally know their child the best and are encouraged to discuss their perception of their child’s learning style with their teacher. Based on our commitment to provide well-balanced classrooms, we are unable to honor parent/guardian requests for specific classroom placements for the 2016-2017 school year.
