Mrs. Close’s Class – We have completed Module 2. Tests have been corrected and are part of your child’s Friday Folder. Please sign and return the test on Monday, October 24th. We were also able to complete Topic A in Module 3. Today the kids took the perimeter and area quiz. Topics B and C are next! During the next few lessons the focus will be on multiplying by 10, 100, and 1,000. During Topic C, the kids will be multiplying three-digit and four-digit numbers by a one-digit number using different strategies including the standard algorithm. Last week I sent home a Remind.com invitation that is specific just to our math class. Let me know if you need those directions again. Keep those Exit Ticket corrections coming my way!
Mr. Hart's Class - We have finished up with our module on place value and rounding. Module 1 assessments should have come home with your child today. Your child should make corrections on a new sheet of paper and return on Monday. I will correct and add half of the lost points to their final grade. Please sign and return the test with your child on Monday. We are now working on a 5 lesson unit on converting metric measurements. As I said this is only 5 lessons so we will be finished with this by the end of next week. I have also introduced the children to Ken Ken a fun puzzle game to get the children thinking about math. You can find additional puzzles at Ken-Ken.com.

ELA
We have three book clubs up and running! One group is reading Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. The other two titles are Hatchet and How to Steal a Dog. Small group time is the best! All three groups focused on the mood that the authors created in the opening of the novels.
Our next integrated ELA/SS unit will focus on the explorers. Your 4th grader will be conducting some research and writing a narrative.
