DIPG AWARENESS DAY - Monday, MAY 17TH
Monday, May 17th is DIPG Awareness Day. To honor the memory of Michael Mosier and in support of his sister, Lila, who is a current Seven Locks third grader, and the Mosier family, many in our school community will be wearing yellow. Michael passed away 6 years ago, on May 17, 2015, from DIPG, the deadliest form of childhood brain cancer. He was a kindergarten student at Seven Locks at the time, and yellow was his favorite color. The Mosier family established a non-profit called Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation to raise funds for DIPG research, and they recently merged with The ChadTough Foundation to create the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation. They have funded over $12 million in research to date. The Foundation also led a nationwide effort to establish May 17th as DIPG Awareness Day. Maryland, along with over 30 other states and the U.S. Senate, recognizes May 17th as DIPG Awareness Day. Please join us in honoring Michael, by wearing yellow on Monday the 17th!
