Navigator Notables
November 2022 Navigator Elementary Newsletter
Principal Message
It sure does feel and smell like fall. The temps have dropped and the smell of burning leaves is in the air. With warm days and cool mornings, we are noticing our lost and found starting to get large. Students are reminded everyday during lunch to check the lost and found for items. Next time your at the school, stop by the lost and found and see if you can claim any of the sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, or lunch boxes.
We are currently finishing up with the first quarter of the school year. This month, we will be holding parent teacher conferences. Please contact your child's teacher if you have not sign up for a meeting. Your childs report card will be available on MISTAR on November 7. This is consistent across the buildings within the district.
A special thank you to the many volunteers who helped at the Halloween Social as well as the Halloween Parent Committe who organized and ran this fun event for the kids. It was a fun and lively extracurricular social event.
There are few other calendar events listed in the bottom section of this newsletter.
Sincerely,
Ruth Badalucco
Principal

Mr. Kelly's class won the class pizza party for the first Jet's Pizza Fundraiser Night from September 27.
Our next date is November 22 and the final date is April 11.

Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students) Volunteer Program
We had a great turn out for our WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) program at the October 12 Kick off meeting.
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. There are two primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program.
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
WATCH D.O.G.S. is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement organizations in the country. Since the program’s creation in 1998, more than 6,450 schools across the country have launched a WATCH D.O.G.S. program of their own. Each school year hundreds of thousands of fathers and father-figures make a positive impact on millions of children by volunteering millions of hours in their local schools through this amazing one-of-a-kind program.
The team is organizing a sign up to send to the individuals interested in being a Watch D.O.G.S. This will be sent by email.
If you were not able to attend the kick off event, but interested in being part of the program please contact Lisa Miles through email at lmiles@pinckneypirates.org

PE with Mr. Goodfellow
November 7 begins our swim unit. Classes to swim based upon their PE schedule. 1 day a week per class. Please attempt to prepare your children by making sure they have appropriate swim attire, ear plugs, nose plugs, towel and backpack/duffel bag to carry clothing in.
Art with Mrs. Shappell
The students have been very busy in art class. We have opened drawing and painting centers and everyone has been exploring these centers. 5th grade finished Starry Night drawings, painting to Classical music and are working on Square One Art work. 4th grade finished a Spookie Eye tree painting, painting to Classical music and Square One artwork. Square One art is a company that prints the students' artwork on different items like coffee cups, blankets, etc for you to order. I'll send out more information on ordering products soon. Most of the artwork will be coming home after conferences.
Computer Science with Mr. Chambless
We are continuing to build our basic knowledge in programming and putting those skills into action to create. This past month we created games featuring our favorite basketball teams and battled the empire in some awesome Star Wars themed games. Ask your students to show you what they have built! For November, we’ll be creating a dance party and working with programming loops.
