Our Vision: Learning and Growing in Christ

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Kia Ora Koutou Katoa, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Ni Sa Bula Vinaka, Kia Orana, Hola como Estas, Marhaba, Greetings to you all.
Big picture

As human beings we communicate through our body; through our words, gestures, facial expressions and actions. Communication is so foundational to human relationships that they wither when we don’t regularly make the effort to communicate.

God also communicates with us through words and gestures and this is especially so in the Sacraments. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the healing Sacraments and is one of the most important avenues of grace for you and your children to grow in relationship with God and each other.

Your role as a parent is vital in helping your child discover the beauty of this Sacrament and the key to establishing a life-long love for it. But… we cannot teach what we do not know so read on to get some insights that will help you deepen your own appreciation for the Sacrament and pass it on to your children, especially during this season of Lent.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation goes by many names:

  • Sacrament of Penance, it consecrates the sinner’s steps to make amends.

  • Sacrament of Conversion, it makes sacramentally present Jesus’ call to conversion, the first step in returning to the Father.

  • Sacrament of Confession, confessing your sins to a priest is an essential element and confesses our belief in a merciful God.

  • Sacrament of Forgiveness, through the priest’s sacramental absolution, the grace of God’s forgiveness is poured out.

  • Sacrament of Reconciliation, it reconnects us to God and to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

School Masses

We are most grateful to Father Andrew and Father Albert who have both altered their busy schedules to accommodate all our classes so they can celebrate Mass this week. We have timetabled school Masses to ensure we keep within the indoor numbers of 200 and our students will be socially distanced and wear masks.

  • Wednesday 6 April 9.00am Atawhai,Te Matauranga and Aroha.

  • Wednesday 6 April 1.30pm Manaakitanga, Tumanako and Harinui

  • Friday 8 April 10.30pm Rangimarie and Arohanui.

Unfortunately we will not be able to invite parents to these Masses, due to number restrictions.

God’s Blessings on your week.

Welcome to Our Place

Today we welcome Medwin Gijo who started in Year 6 last week and Anthony Tuimauga who started today. We hope they both will enjoy their time here at our school.

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents

April arrived quietly on Friday with no April Fool’s Day antics, but a very important reminder that Holy Week is only a week away and a time for us to stop and reflect. Have we kept our Lenten Promises that we so carefully prepared and promised to implement on Ash Wednesday? In our ever changing world we can always stop and refocus, remembering it is never too late to make a change. There is still time and always will be time for Prayer, Almsgiving and Fasting as we journey towards Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week.

Netball Trials

have received a notice regarding these.

The trials will be held during the day over the

Breaks, so your Year 5 and 6 girls may come to school in their School PE uniform on Tuesday and Thursday with their sport shoes. We are making this allowance as we do not want to have unnecessary overcrowding in the bathrooms while still in the red light phase. The Year 7 & 8 girls may change at school and use the hall.

Please remember that if your child is selected for netball it is a commitment for Term 2 and part of Term 3.

There will be games on Tuesday or Thursday nights and parents, guardians or whanau have to collect their daughter from The AMI Netball Centre in Morrin Road, Panmure anytime between 5pm and 7pm depending on the time of their game.

All girls need to attend an after school practice one night a week for an hour or an hour and a half depending on the coach.

There will also be a cost for the enrolment of the team and a bond for the netball uniform, which needs to be paid before the season begins in May.

Netball is also played in all weather, cancellations only occur if there is thunder and lightning.
