Love, Grow, Teach, Eastside
Week of February 5th
Eastside Mission
Feeling the Love at Eastside
As we love on our kids, remember that what we are doing is changing lives every day! We want every day to count! 47 instructional days left until ACT Aspire Summatives and MAP testing begins. Stay the course and we will finish strong!
Anchor of the Week: Ms. Schluterman
Mrs. Heller visits EES
To Do List for the Week:
1. With parent teacher conferences next week, it's time this week to get our hallways decked out with student work. This is another way to tell our story by displaying all the great activities that have been happening, since we came back from break. Make sure to consider the rigor of an assignment you are displaying. Ms. Gordon has done a great job displaying the artwork in the building, so the rest of us need to display content-rich assignments.
2. Send parent teacher conference forms home Monday for parents to select a time for student led conferences. Forms will be placed in your boxes.
3. Team time happens this Wednesday for all grades except Kinder and 1st grade. (Kinder and 1st grade will meet on Thursday.) Each team needs to bring the data sheet(s) they have decided to use for student data folders to discuss. We will continue working on the four critical questions by developing our units and CFAs. Block staff will meet during their morning team time to begin the development of their first CFA on summarizing!!! So exciting!
4. This week for Global PD, we will all watch and comment on "Increasing Student Involvement by Asking "Where am I going?"
5. Take a look at your objective/essential question you are posting. This should not be listed as a task, activity, or list of items to complete. It should have verbs and wording from the standards students are learning. Be sure to refer to this objective/I can statement prior to starting the lesson. This helps students' brains make a connection for learning.
6. Staff meeting (Huddle) this Friday at 7:45 in the team time room.
7. MAP PM will be grades 3-5 this week. Dibel PM for K-2.
8. No SIT commenting this week. Make sure all of your Dibels PM data is up to date.

- Eastside News: Ms. Barnhart's fifth grade TAG class will be sending out the news for the following week on Thursdays. Everyone needs to watch the news within the first couple of minutes of arriving to class from PROWL every day. While students are watching the news, you can take lunch count, role, and have students mark their attendance in their data folder. Observe the moment of silence following the news. Instruction will begin at 8:30.
- Reading lesson plans need to be on your reading table. Your lesson plans need to be out visible on your desks, so we can easily look at them. Make sure you are meeting with all students daily that are not on level. Also, be sure that you are using their instructional level during reading group not their independent level.
- Make sure your classroom door is locked at all times. Help out with any subs around you to keep their doors locked as well.
