The BA Bulletin - August 21, 2023
Weekly News Capturing the BA Way!
From Ms. Foster Arbaiza,
Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 School Year Cougars! We have a great week of learning and fun planned for you all.
We have three big updates for this week:
1. Meet the Teacher (please see the flyer below). PTSA will be on campus selling memberships, and we have PRIZES for those that sell the most! Food will also be available for purchase.
2. Our new halls will be labeled this week. Shoutout to LinkCrew for creating our temporary hall signs while we wait for the new ones to arrive.
3. BA 10 Day Plan for Dress Code and Tardies - our 10 Day plan for dress code and tardies will end on August 25th. Please ensure your student is in BA dress code and on time every class, every day.
Please see below for more detailed information!
As always, let me know if you have any questions!

BA Starts a New Tradition!
Student Athletes were able to greet all of our elementary school students for their first day of school! We love this new tradition!
Interested in Joining BA Baseball?
Any freshmen interested in joining baseball, please stop by J104 to pick up information on the team.
PTECH Goes to Clemson
Two PTECH students joined the Call Me program and spent a week at Clemson University. Read the full story here.
We are now using our new hallway letter and number system at BA. Students need to refer to the map and the floor in which their classes are located. All classes that start with a 1 are on the first floor, and all classes that start in a 2 are on the second floor. Shoutout to LinkCrew for making our temporary hallway signs while we wait for our new signs to be delivered.
Meet the Teacher - THIS TUESDAY at 5PM
Come and join us for the BA Meet the Teacher night! PTSA will be on campus selling memberships, and those who sell the most memberships will be entered into a drawing for a prize! The PTSA is generous to BA and our students. The funds they receive go right back into the BA community. Students who join the PTSA will receive 5 community service hours for every person that signs up under the student's name. Student who receive 20 hours of community service will receive regalia to wear at graduation.
BA's 10 Day Plan for Dress Code and Tardies
Not sure what your student needs to wear or when class begins? See the bell schedule and dress code flyer below!
Starting 8/25/2023 all students who arrive late with outside commercial food or drink must dispose of it before they enter the building. Random tardy sweeps will begin.
Starting 8/28/2023 all students who arrive late will be issued a "late pass" and parent contact will be made. Tardy Sweeps will be every period.
Students who continue to arrive late to class will face disciplinary consequences.
Students must be in dress code everyday. Starting 8/28/2023, students who are out of dress code will be sent to B101. They may purchase a shirt, or they may wear a loaner for the day (students must provide cell phone or other collateral to borrow a shirt).
Students who continue to violate the dress code policy will face disciplinary consequences.

No more than 12 students may be out in the hallways at any given times. Students may not receive passes during the following times: the first and last 15 minutes of every class period, advisory, and lunches. Students may use the bathroom during their specific lunch shift. Please note, the hall pass limits do not apply to true emergency situations.
Backpack Policy for 2023 - 2024
Dallas ISD has implemented a CLEAR BAG policy for all students in grades K - 12. The district will provide one clear backpack for students this year. If students lose or break this bag, or if they prefer a different clear or mesh bag, students must purchase this on their own.
1. While mesh backpacks are optional, all bags must be clear.
2. Lunch bags are subject to inspection, but do not have to be clear.
3. Students in extracurricular activities will work with their sponsor to search and store their bags in the morning.
4. Students may carry a pouch for personal items. It must be no larger than 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches.
ALL BAGS in violation of the DISD clear backpack policy will not be allowed in the building.
Technology Pickup Plan
Our Technology rollout is in full swing. Students will receive technology over the next few weeks. We are assigning students technology first, configuring the technology, and then we will deliver the technology to students in English classes.
Please be patient with us as we rollout technology for over 2,000 students!
Students must complete a Technology User Agreement before they can take a device home.
